Trouble TTC

Newbie Intro and a Question

Good Morning Ladies!

I am new here, so I wanted to introduced myself and had a question. My husband and I have been actively ttc since May 2013. I had been on birth control for 6 years before that. Because of that coming off the pill really made my body do crazy things. I would go months without a period and then it would start. So, trying to see when I was ovulating, etc. became more of a choir and honestly I didn't really know if I was or not. I got an app on my phone to track my periods and to give me some of an idea when I might be ovulating.

At the end of March I went to my OB because I hadn't had a period since January. That was the longest time frame that I had gone and I was worried that something was wrong with me. She thought that some of it was stress, I am a highly emotional woman and tend to internalize alot, but thought that we should go through some test to see what could be going on. So she gave me medicine to start my period, and let me tell you when it started I thought I was going to die! My periods have been bad in the past, but I wasn't prepared for how bad this was. After that, I scheduled my HSG.

I wasn't prepared for how bad that was either. I was told that it was going to be like my pap and that it would be a quick in and out thing that I could do over my lunch break. Yeah that isn't how it was for me! But I digress...I am going to be talking with my OB today about the results from that test.

My question is...after the HSG I noticed that things don't feel the same when my husband and I are having sex. Have you experienced this? We have done this a couple times since the test, but I can't seem to climax. He is and he is enjoying it..and don't get me wrong, I am enjoying too, but I can't seem to get there like I have before.

Sorry for the TMI and the long post, I just wanted to explain so you knew where I was coming from and might be able to help me.

Thanks for your help!

  • I can't say that I felt any different down there after the HSG,   I will agree with PP's and say you should look into an RE.  Your OB might be able to help, but an RE is trained in getting to the root of the infertility problems.  You might be hesitant to make the change, but don't be.
Married on October 20, 2012.  Began trying in January 2013.
RE appointment & testing December 2013 - February 2014= Unexplained IF, possible endometriosis
IUI#1- March 22 (100mg clomid, 75 mg of Bravelle, Ovidrel trigger) = BFP!!!

  • Welcome! I'm a newbie as well! I agree with the RE as well. It took me 2 years of frustration and headaches from my OB/GYN to realize I needed more! I don't know why they aren't as proactive or helpful but you will definitely get that with a good RE! As for the HSG...other than it being extremely painful and uncomfortable, it definitely took a week or so to feel 100%
