HPT at 12dpiui = BFN :(

I got my 1st BFN on a medicated cycle this morning.  It hurts more than when we were trying just by TI (as you all probably know very well by now).  Because now I thought "OK, we have some help here ....so maybe that's what it will take."  Knowing full well that the chances per cycle for IUI are 10-20% I am still really bummed.  I'm thinking "OK, I took some Clomid to release those eggs.  The RE dropped off the sperm RIGHT in my uterus.  What the fuck more does my body need to make this happen?!" (Excuse my language).  I suppose my Beta blood test on Sat could tell me differently but right now I am assuming that this is not my cycle.  I read somewhere (maybe it was one of your siggies, I can't remember) that IF is the death of a dream that happens month after month.  And that is so accurate.  I can only hope there is a reason for all this.  That one day when I do finally get my baby I will be that much more appreciative of what I have.

I'm going to see when my cycle returns and plan accordingly.  But right now I am thinking I'll probably take a break in May.  We are traveling a lot next month (to Chicago 1st weekend of May, going to Kauai for my birthday May 7-12 and then Memorial day weekend down to Southern CA).  I'd like to enjoy it and shed my IF brain for a while.  Thanks for all your support ladies.  You are all awesome and I am thankful to have found you!

Me - Left salpingo-oophorectomy at 19 due to large cyst/torsion  and 2 large uterine fibroids found at age 30
Him - Borderline low sperm count (correcting through Fertility Blend supplement)

Married 8/20/2011
TTC #1 since Jan 2013
First appointment with RE 10/2013.  
April 2014 - Clomid 100mg CD3-7.  HCG shot CD10 IUI #1 done on 4/12/14 (CD12) ....BFN
May 2014 - Break cycle to repeat saline sonogram and re-group.  Travel to Kauai 5/7-5/12 (Yay!!)
June 2014 - Clomid 150mg CD4-8.  HCG shot CD14.  IUI#2 done on 6/9 and 6/10 (CD15-16) w/ Prometrium suppositories during TWW .... BFN
July 2014 - Clomid 150mg CD3-7.  Ultrasound CD12 - 4 mature follies! HCG trigger shot CD12 AM.  IUI#3 on CD13 w/ Prometrium suppositories during TWW ....BFN
July 2014 - Repeat ultrasound done to measure size of fibroid - 8x9cm (the size of a grapefruit!) Surgery referral made.
August 2014 - MRI done which revealed 2 fibroids: a 13x15cm fibroid as well as an 8x7cm one.  Super freak out mode over surgery plan.  OB-GYN/surgeon said surgery would most likely have to be a laparotomy (open abdominal surgery)
August 2014 - After a 2nd opinion, plan to take Lupron x 2 months to shrink fibroids then laparoscopic/robotic myomectomy.  Surgery date is set for Nov 21st!  
November 2014 - Robotic myomectomy done (2 large fibroids removed, mild endo found).  Benched x 3 months

    I'm also sorry. I feel your pain and just went through the same damn thing. What I've learned is that the first time has the lowest possible success rate and your chances are better on 2 & 3. For whatever that is worth..... Hugs!

    I'm sorry.  I just got a BFN on my 2nd medicated cycle so I totally hear ya.  Sounds like the break will be good for you.  I'm jealous of all your travels - have fun!

    Aug 2013 - SA: Counts & Motility = great, Morph = 1%; RE didn't seem too concerned

    Jan. 2014 - Blood work ordered by obgyn:  Prolactin = high & AMH = low (0.73)
    Feb. 6, 2014 - Repeat blood work ordered by obgyn:  Prolactin = normal & AMH = low (0.9)
    Feb.  20, 2014 - First appointment with RE
    Feb. 24, 2014 - HSG scheduled;  DX:  one tube definitely open & one tube could be blocked
    Mar. 7, 2014 - CD 21 Blood work for Progesterone; DX:  Progesterone level at 5.2; shows I ovulated but was low
    Mar. 28, 2014 - Laparoscopy; DX:  Tubes open.  Found some endometriosis and had that removed.

    Started TTC:  June 2012
    June 2012 - March 2013:  When it Happens/it happens method = BFN
    March 2013:  Started using Fertility Friend
    Cycles 1 - 15 with Fertility Friend = BFN
    Cycle 16 - Benched due to Laparoscopy
    Cycle 17 - Natural Cycle = BFN
    Cycle 18 - Natural Cycle = BFN
    Cycle 19 - Natural Cycle = BFN

    ((hugs)) I'm sorry.  I hope the time away helps take your mind off things for a little while, it sounds like an amazing vacation.  I know for us May is going to be a rest cycle to just regroup and enjoy life without thinking about IF.

    I'm so sorry for your BFN! Glad that you have such exciting travel next month to look forward to...sounds like a nice way to spend a break from IF.

    I read recently that the reason it takes many tries on average even when everything is times perfectly, and even without IF, is because a significant percentage of eggs are not chromosomally sound, even in young and healthy women (because the last stage of meiosis when the cell splits to have 1/2 a complete set of chromosomes, 2-3 days before O, is really easy to botch). I don't know if that's true, but it makes me feel better!

    July 2006: started TTC
    2008: HSG (normal), couple rounds of clomid through gyno
    2008 - 2010: dragging my feet out of fear and procrastination
    October 2010: first consultation with RE, dx PCOS and fibroids (DH slightly low count/motility)
    Oct. 2010 - Dec. 2012:  In DENIAL! avoided the issue because I was scared of surgery
    January 2013: returned to RE, fibroids grew significantly
    February 2013: second HSG, fibroids pushed on tubes which blocked them somewhat
    March 2013: MRI to determine what type of surgery may be necessary
    July 29, 2013: fibroids (5) removed via robotic laparascopy
    August 2013 - Nov 2013 : benched due to recent surgery

    IUI #1, Dec. 24, 2013, BFN 
    IUI #2, Jan. 25, 2014, BFN
    IUI #3, Feb. 25, 2014  BFN
    IUI #4 canceled due to lack of response to letrozole
    IUI #4.1 April 28, 2014, BFN
    May 16, 2014: wtf consult, start prepping for IVF in June and add injects for one last IUI in the meantime
    IUI #5 started letrozole and bravelle but canceled after HSG led to new diagnosis
    May 21, 2014: third HSG, tubes blocked, one at the beginning, one hydrosalpinx??
    June 11, 2014: consult, approved to move on to IVF because the hydro is not completely blocked therefore allowing fluid to move through slowly rather than backwards
    IVF #1 August 8, 2014 - 3dt of 2 embryos, BFN
    September 17, 2014 - 4th HSG, the right tube is very patent (open!!) dye went straight through this time. Weird!
    October 2, 2014 - started metformin treatment
    November 14, 2014 - blood work, brought A1C down from 5.8 to 5.5
    November 26, 2014 - RE finally back from vaca and reviewed my chart, no more IVFs for rest of calendar year
    December 1, 2014 - Right after Thanksgiving, I called a new clinic and got in right away! Plan for IVF
    December 17, 2014 - ER! 29 retrieved (!!), 16 mature, all 16 fertilized (ICSI)
    IVF #2 December 20, 2014 - 3dt of 3 embryos, BFN

    We are done with treatment unsuccessfully. :(

    Dx: Me: Widespread Endo & nagging Uterine Polyps. Low progesterone  DH: MFI - borderline motility and low morphology. 
    1st Hysteroscopy to remove polyp found during HSG & Saline U/S Dec '12 with OB/GYN
    RE referral and testing in June/July '13
    1st Lap & 2nd Hysteroscopy done Aug '13 to diagnose Endo and remove polpys
    6 months of Lupron to reduce amount of endo
    2nd Lap & 3rd Hysteroscopy done Feb '14 to remove remaining Endo and polyps that won't go away    
    DH:  Varicocele found; surgery to fix Jan '14
    Unmedicated IUI#1 - 3/28/14 -  BFN
    Medicated IUI#1 - Letrozole (5 days) + Follistim + Ovidrel - 4/25/14  Beta 5/12

    It's a hard process.  Even when everything on paper lines up to a perfect cycle, a cycle still fails.

    All RPL and IF testing with multiple REs = normal

    5 IUIs = BFN

    Together since 2/15/11 ~ Legally married in NY on 9/29/12

    We've been working on baby #1 since July 2013 using Open ID donor sperm.  8 IUI attempts with 5 actual IUIs and one chemical pregnancy.  We have one fresh IVF cycle under our belts as well as a FET.  I have endometriosis and a uterine septum that was corrected via surgery in November 2013. 

    11/14/14 -  Second HSG shows that tubes are still clear and ute is looking good. 

    12/6/14 - Started BCPs in prep for IVF #2

    12/22/14 - Saline u/s and endometrial scratch (All was clear and OUCH!)

    1/2/15 - Began stimming for IVF #2

    So sorry for the BFN... Things could still work out when you have your blood test, maybe your levels are too low to catch on an HPT. Best of luck!

    I'm sorry! Today is 12dpo for me too and I got a BFN today too. I also started AF today so it's a bust for sure. At least it saved me from peeing on more sticks! This was our last IUI so we are moving on to IVF. I feel your pain, every BFN is a loss of what could have been. At least every AF brings hope for a new cycle.

    Me (35) no known issues DH (37) MFI. TTC 21 months (24 cycles)
    Dx MFI with low to normal count, low motility, morphology 3%
    HSG normal, ultrasound and labs on me all normal. 

    1 cycle of Clomid 50mg and TI, unmonitored by OBGYN= BFN
    1 cycle of Clomid 50mg and IUI, unmonitored by OBGYN= BFN
    Started seeing an RE!!
    2 more cycles of clomid 50mg (great response), with IUI and Pregnyl trigger (4.8-8 mil good ones after wash) = all BFN
    1 cycle of clomid 50mg (3-7) followed by Follistim 75iu (7-11) + IUI = BFN
    December 2013 DH saw urologist and is taking Anastrozole, CoQ10, and L-Carnitine
    IUI #5 natural cycle (needed a med break) = BFN
    IUI #6 Follistim 75iu (CD3-10) + Pregnyl (CD11) + IUI (final count after wash 300K) = BFN
    IUI #7 Follistim 75iu (CD3-9) + Pregnyl (CD11) + IUI on 2/20 (post wash count 12.5 million)= BFN
    IUI cancelled (DH OOT) Clomid 50mg (CD3-7) 1 follicle +(not well timed) TI = BFN
    IUI #8 and last one!! Clomid 100mg (CD3-7) +OPK before US + IUI 4/17 (post wash 8.5 mil)= BFN

    Pre-IVF testing complete! SHG great and measurements taken! Labs for infectious diseases completed, FSH (5.4), TSH (1.6), Prolactin (11), AMH (2.6), Estradiol (40).

    Started BCP 5/29 and Lupron 6/11 prep for IVF #1! Started follistim 225u/day on 6/28. Monitoring on 7/2 >15 follicles measuring 11-14, E2 758. Monitoring on 7/5 all ready to go!! Great follicle sizes and lining is at 9. Tigger 7/5, ER 7/7 16R 9M 3F. Stimmed too fast in just 7 days. 7/10 3dt of 2 8-cell grade 2 & 4. 7/14 P4 >60.
    Holy crap BFP!!!
    Beta #1 (14dpo) 7/21 112 Beta #2 (16dpo) 7/23 286 a Beta #3 (18dpo) 7/25 761 Beta #4 (21dpo) 2631!!! Hold on tight little embies!!      First Ultrasound 8/7- 1 perfect little bean with a beating heart 117bpm!! EDD 3/30.
    Second ultrasound 9/2 Little bean measuring a few days ahead with a heart rate of 161!

    May 2018 after long period of not trying, starting adoption process with family friend's newborn
