Let's talk about mom butt

My butt has turned into a square. Please tell me it will go back to normal one day.

  • Mine too...I remember my mom saying this about her butt and me thinking I hope that doesn't happen to me and yep it did.

    We need a mom butt recovery group! Or perhaps a mom butt check-in?  ;)

    Le sigh, wish I was one of the lucky ones whose butt got bigger in a good way.

  • I can't picture a square butt on a lady, unless you don't have hips.  My brain is giving me a slide show of lovely man butts.  (tmi? never!)  You have my deep sympathies though.  Every once in a while I'll see women whose butts are the oddest shape, like half of a right-side-up heart instead of the more usual upside down heart, presumably from having a desk job for way too long.  I live in fear that will happen to me.  For now it just seems to poke out even more, but that might just be the strange late-pregnancy posture.
  • My dh told me weeks ago that I was getting a mom butt. Thanks babe.... I'm hoping when I get back into working out it will get better. :-/

    Swimming helped me after having DS1. Twice a week for 45 mins for 4 weeks, my butt popped right back up ;)

  • It's way worse in maternity pants!

    Oh hell no!!

    @sisterjanet I am a slim hipped woman and my butt is flat. It takes lots of exercise to make it not so. i gained weight in my upper back hip area so it like makes my butt look smaller in comparison. so horrible.

    @tjkdlhb‌ these pants are doing me no favors, that's for sure

    @neems1982‌ @JessElam‌ i am set up for Pilates after the doctor gives the OK. hoping it's good for the booty.

    @gertiebarden‌ i DO want to

  • Squats will be your BFF once baby is here and your given the ok to workout again!! I had mom bum after dd. Squats did the trick. I'm in need of squats again!
  • I, too, have Mom Butt. I was hoping for a sweet Nicki Minaj-type pregnant butt and got a flat square instead. At this point I'd just be happy to go back to my regular pre-baby butt. Hoping yoga and running help post-baby.

    Squats, lunges, deadlifts....all work the butt and you can either use body weight or get one of those slim weighted bars or use dumbbells starting out if you don't go to a gym or want to. I for one can't wait to hopefully have this spd resolves once she is out and get back to my heavy lifting! I refuse to give in to the mom butt!
