Baby Pixie's birth story!

I wasn't going to write one because it was so uneventful, but I'm bored and nursing so...I had an ultrasound at my 39 week appointment on Friday. We had known for a while that she had IUGR, but this scan showed her fluid level at 4 cm. He sent us straight to the hospital for an induction that afternoon. We showed up at labor and delivery at a really busy time, there were so many women who were actually in labor and they all needed rooms before me, so we sat in the waiting area for an hour. Well, apparently my uterus got inspired by all the other active uteri, and I started having contractions. They kept going after we got all set up in our room, but I didn't tell the Dr because it was just too crazy. There was no way I could go into labor by just SHOWING UP at a hospital, it had to be all in my head. I was dilated to 3cm and they were going to let me sleep and give me cervidil at 5am. I woke up at 3am and at this point I was absolutely sure I was in labor, and contractions were strong and 3 minutes apart. I should have probably told someone what was going on a little earlier since sending a very panicked husband to the nurses station probably confused the hell out of everyone. Especially since I was 7cm. THANKFULLY I was able to get the epidural right away, it was so amazing. I was really disappointed though that I couldn't handle the pain better than I did. I thought I was a lot stronger, but it just came so hard and fast. After that everything was a blur. I was able to rest for a while completely unaware of any contractions. Then I woke up to a POP, like a water balloon exploded in my vagina. So weird, my water never broke on it's own before! That was such a weird feeling. I called the nurse and low and behold baby was crowning! Two pushes later, Quinn Evelyn was born. 6lbs 13oz and 20in long on Saturday 4/19 at 9:01 am. She didn't cry much, but made the cutest wimpery gremlin noises and just looked around! It was the easiest labor ever, I probably could have delivered her on my own. No tears, no stitches, and four days later I don't even feel like I had a baby. Most importantly, she is healthy, happy, and beautiful! And I'm SO glad I got to avoid an induction as well as avoid running to the hospital in the middle of the night. It was the best way to do things, a scheduled, natural labor!
