Where will baby sleep?

edited April 2014 in June 2014 Moms
Obviously plans can change, but where are you planning to begin having baby sleep once he or she is born?

  • I'm planning to have her sleep in her nursery but that's only cause there's a bed in there where I'll sleep for the 1st few weeks. If I end up not being happy doing that, we have a pnp we could put her in in our room.
  • We have a crib setup in our room for them. If they need to recline a bit while sleeping then we'll move the rock n plays in there. We planned on keeping them in our room for six months or so, but plans may change.

  • bassinet in our room, then the pack and play in our room until 6 months old and we will move him to his crib for nighttime then. but all naps starting at 3-4 months old in the crib so it's not a totally foreign place to him when we make the switch. it worked well for DS so here's hoping it works for this guy too!
  • Crib in his own room from day one. I can't sleep with a baby in the room, they make too much noise and snuffle and shit. Plus, I found d with C that I had a much easier time later with having her nap in there and learning how to put her to bed awake than a lot of my friends who bed or room shared. That could also have just been her nature, though.

  • With DD we had her in the PnP in our room until about 6 months.  But she was a terrrrrrrrrible sleeper and was up every hour.

I'm considering having this one sleep in her crib from day 1.  The nursery is directly across from our bedroom.

  • Our master is on the first floor and our nursery is on the second floor so she will be in a PNP in our room until I feel comfortable moving her upstairs. I'm hoping after a couple of weeks to have her napping upstairs in her crib.

  • In our room in a RnP until she outgrows it. Then I'll probably side car the crib to our bed. We bed share too, but I'm trying to avoid that this time. My toddler is a bed hog and I don't need another squirmy one near me.
  • DD will be in a bassinet in our room at first.  I'm pretty open ended about when to transition her, it just really depends on what type of sleeper she is and how comfortable we are with putting her in her own room.
  • Wherever baby is able to sleep.  Ideally he'll sleep in a bassinet at first and then his crib.

  • Crib from Day 1 unless baby disturbs DD1 (they are room sharing), then it will be pack n play in our room until she's sleeping better (4 weeks-ish?)
  • We are staying in our one bedroom apartment for the first six months, so PNP in our room is the plan. I'm a little worried we'll keep my husband awake on work nights though, so maybe we'll end up moving to the living room. We really don't have the space for a real crib.
  • I always co sleep for the first week. Both my boys hated the bassinet so I'm skipping that. Then he will be in the pnp in another room.

PNP in our room to begin with. I am nervous about bed sharing, so the PNP right next to our bed is kind of my compromise. If she outgrows it while ILs are still here, then she'll move to the crib, but stay in our room. I don't want any interference during the night, and keeping her in our room with the door locked seems like our best bet. After they leave if we feel ready she can move to her own room. ETA for clarity, she'll be in the PNP newborn attachment.

  • Our plan is to have baby in a bassinet in our room for the fist 6 weeks or so, then to the crib in her room. But as a FTM that plan could change.

  • I plan on bed sharing again like I did with DD (but maybe just not for 2 yrs like I did with DD).

  • I love bed sharing.  I really wish DD would have done it longer.  I'm really looking forward to sleeping next to a baby again.  So this one better cooperate!

  • PnP in our room with the intention of transitioning to the crib in his own room once he's sleeping for longer stretches at night. I'm gonna BF, so I don't want to travel up and down the hall multiple times a night. And I'm a FTM, so I have no doubt that I'm going to be all obsessive about not hearing him wake up, making sure he's still breathing, etc. at first - I'm hopeful the PnP in our room helps to neutralize some of my crazy.

  • Either a bassinet or PnP (whichever my sister decides to let me borrow) in our room until we move out of our apartment in July. In the new place naps will be in the crib and we will evaluate how the baby affects DH's schedule. If it becomes a big problem we will be transition to full crib asap, if not I'll probably wait a few extra months.

  • Crib in our room for a while, then when they are sleeping pretty regularly I'll move them to their own room.
  • Crib in our room. We have a PnP/cradle if she needs to be right next to me.

I'm not new. I just hate The Bump.

  • Bassinet for the first month then she will go into the nursery. I am hoping that my hubby and I can take turn waking up in the middle of the night so the other can get more rest... Although I have a feeling that I will be the one waking up on most night (by most I meant 6 out of 7 nights). I guess I will have to wake up and pump anyway...
  • Bassinet/PnP in our room for a few weeks at least, then the crib in the nursery.  With DD we moved her into the nursery around 4 weeks and we all started sleeping much better.  (Obviously every kid is different, but DD has always seemed to like her space.)

Since baby will be sharing a room with DD, and since DD is a great sleeper and baby won't be for a while at least, I imagine it might take us longer to put baby in the nursery.  We'll just see how it goes.

  • We used the Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper in our room for 6 months with DD1 and it worked really well. We all slept great and the transition to her crib was a breeze. She did take naps in her crib well before 6 months so I think that helped. With DD2 we are planning to do the same except that we are moving in October so I'm not sure if that will change things or not. We'll see.

Bassinet for a month or two then her own crib. We will have a bed in the nursery just in case. But I really would like to have her in her crib ASAP. (I know plans can change so I will be flexible)

  • Bassinet in our room for the first couple of weeks until I get the hang of BF'ing and the PP soreness has lessened. Then crib in her room.

  • I think the game plan is to have the baby in a bassinet in our room for a few months.

  • RnP for the first 3-6 weeks, then transitioning to the crib in the nursery. It all depends on when he decides to only have one middle of the night feeding. He will do all his naps in his crib though, I want him to be accustomed to it from the beginning.

  • PNP in our room in the beginning & then into the crib (nursery) after that. I am not sure on the exact time frame, but most likely 4-6weeks.

  • PnP bassinet in our room for the first two months, then crib in the nursery next to our bedroom. That's the plan anyways, who knows what will really happen.

  • Arm's reach co-sleeper.  Both for the sake of room (we don't have a separate room for this LO at the moment) and to facilitate BFing/sleeping.  I hope it works as well as I imagine in my head!

  • Same as we did with DD (which worked really well). In a PnP beside our bed for the first 6 months, then to the crib in his own room. Once he's sleeping though the night, we'll probably take back our guest room and have DD & DS share a room, at least for a couple years.

  • We set up the crib in our bedroom. It's recommended and the nursery is on the opposite end if the house, much too far for a newborn IMO
