Did Your Induction End in a CSection?

I know that many ladies still haven't given birth. I also know many many factors play into a Vaginal v. CSection birth. I very well could be induced today (possible pre-e), just wondering where everyone stands on this so far?

Re: Did Your Induction End in a CSection?

  • Yes. My progress stalled at 5cm and it had been too long since they broke my water so we had to do the C-section.

  • Yes it did. I was progressing fine but the baby was presenting wrong (face first).
  • I stalled at a 6 after 34 hours. I asked for the csec, but not sure how long they would have let me go. My water had been broken several hours earlier too.

  • No, I was stuck at 2 cm with the pit until they broke my water. His head finally came down and I progressed just fine after that.

  • Mine did. My babe stayed at a -3 station through induction and failed to progress. He was a big baby and had a big head (15 cm! Average is 13-13.5) My pelvis couldn't accommodate. We made the decision very early to with the c section and it really hasn't been a bad recovery.
  • I was stalled at a 4 for 10 hours after breaking waters. So yea cs it was.

  • No. I was somewhat slow to progress even after breaking my water. About 7hrs after breaking my water we discussed stopping the pitocin to let my body rest/re-set & starting again a few hours later- I was concerned that would lead to a c-sec so I asked if I was on the clock from my water breaking and my OB said I could go beyond 24 since I didn't have GBS, water was clear, baby was doing fine and I had no fever or other indication of infection.

  • I answered for DD1's pregnancy. My water broke at 7:30 am and I stalled at a 4 by 3 pm. At that time I kept laboring until 6:30, but was taken into a c-section at 7 due to no progress and heart decels. Turns out she had turned her at sometime in the middle of the night and she had gotten stuck. I started the induction at 10 pm the night before by using the pill that they insert, and pitocin was started at 5 am.

  • No. I was induced for pre-e but they only gave me pitocin and everything went really smoothly. Baby was out in less than 10 hours.

  • No. But when my water broke at 8pm I was 3cm and 80% and baby's head was already engaged. They started pitocin at 6am and didn't have to turn it up and DS2 was born at 830pm.
Technically I guess I had an augmentation, not an induction, but the contractions didn't start until I'd had pitocin.

Yes.  I had FAST progress with just misoprostol, but baby's heart rate dropped dramatically after I had been pushing a while.   Turned out she had the cord wrapped around her neck and was sunny side up, so I was glad I went for the c-section.
  • Previous pregnancy- yes.

Yes, mine did, but I think it was 100% because I was induced at 38+1 due to pre-eclampsia. My body was in no way ready to be in labor (started at 0 dilation and only 50% effaced), and needed a substantial amount of drugs to kick start contractions and keep me safe from the pre-eclampsia. After 4 days of induction, my baby stopped handling pitocin, and my body wasn't able to contract without it, so we needed a c-section.

I think if your body is ready for labor, and there aren't other health concerns, inductions can and usually do go great.

  • Cervix started swelling when I went into active labor. Plus baby went in distress because I got a fever
  • I. Voted ds. Yes I ended up with a. C-section but not because of the induction. Lo was having episodes of bradycardia before starting. When I didn't progress after second round of gel and her decelerations got worse we decided to get the section.
