And I can't decide....

First, I am terrified to give birth. You'd think after baby number 1, I'd feel comfortable, nope I'm terrified. So do I let the stress of being afraid to give birth take me over.

Or, I feel so lousy, I just want it to be over---which means the inevitable BIRTH....terrible pains, exhausted, self-conscious about my whole body, just irritable.

What have I gotten myself into.....

This last week I realized that I have to give birth again in order to get this snot out. Wish there was an easier way. And yet, I'm reminded as to why I didn't want to get pregnant again.

Sadly, I wish I could sleep through the pain, pushing, and recovery and just have the prize---why all the work for the prize at the end?

I'm totally dreading labor/delivery more this time around. With DD I was actually kind of excited for it. This time? I just want to *poof* baby out!

Yes. Feeling the same. The closer I get to labor the more I remember from last time and just want to cry. Yet I really want to not be pregnant anymore. Ugh.

Yeah, first time around I didn't know what to expect. This time I do and that makes it worse. Which is why, as f-ed up as it may sound, I am hoping that baby stays breech and I have to have a csection. Crappy recovery but no labor! And I will actually know when it's going to happen (unless she comes before the scheduled date).

If I do end up having another vaginal delivery, I am comforting myself with the thought that second labors are usually shorter than first.

I'm really just dreading the unknowns of when I'll go into labor and that stupid IV has haunting me. I'm really okay with labor and all that comes with it, aside from that damn IV.

Definitely harder the 2nd + times because you know what is coming. I got anxiety just touring the labor unit the other day!! Do I go for the epidural or just wing it and hope it's over quickly... Ah, and oh the cramping after the 2nd one is way worse (and it just gets a bit worse each time). I don't think there is another time in our life though were we will wish for pain (so we can meet our littles)

Huh. I had this same thought, only before I got pregnant... Last time. So I decided on an ECS. Wouldn't change my decision for the world. And glad I'm having a RCS this round. Good luck though, I hear you on the mental part of the whole thing, that's exactly why I knew I wouldn't be able to do it. And after the glimpse of labor (ok, all day labor, and then the serious shit after my water broke), I know I made the right choice for me.

Totally! I'm okay with the pain and even the ripping it's the IV I'm freaking out about I don't mind needles at all I have a full sleeve and I can take shots no prob but the idea of that stupid IV needle stuck in my hand omfg noooooo thank you!!!

Right there with you. I'm so done being pregnant. So. Done. But having the baby means recovery pain and 4 weeks of restrictions, not to mention having a newborn and a toddler at home.

Every few minutes I flip between OMG I CAN'T WAIT TO MEET HER!!! and OMG WTF WAS I THINKING???

It's making me dizzy. @-)

Yeahhhh kinda. Haha. I do appreciate the honesty though, and while I'm optimistic about having the best experience I possibly can, I know labor will be difficult!

As a FTM I think I am in complete denial over the whole thing. Everyone keeps asking me if I took a birth class, Lamaze, etc and I'm like nope! Just winging it. I'm honestly more (irrationally) worried about the pain of recovery and the prospect of tearing badly than actual labor. I think because during labor there will be motivation to get the baby out ASAP vs recovery will just suck.

I told my midwife yesterday that i'm ready to get this baby out. She said labor is a breeze compared to the newborn phase.

I'm a FTM and I'm scared/anxious of the unknown of L&D. But I figured it can't be so horrific since many woman have done it again a second and third time.

FWIW, to the FTMs, I may be dreading it, but in reality, my L&D experience the first time around was actually fine - fairly quick, epi was awesome, etc. I'd just rather jump to the newborn part

THIS. Also the possibility of some random horrible resident steamrolling over the universe again. Everybody else was great, at least in the fuzziness of memory.

Really though, I'm dreading the whole post-partum thing much more than l&d. Actually giving birth only lasts so long, then some hospital time, and then we go home. *Jaws music*

@tjkdlhb‌ right!? I was so optimistic about labor until I went in to the ER for pains a month ago and they stuck one in me and I was freakin out with anxiety and told them my pain was gone to take that needle out!!!

STM here and only reason I'm anxious for this birth is that I'm attempting a VBAC. I'm excited but super nervous at the same time and I really really hope it works out how I want it to, but can't help but think I'm going to end up with a RCS and that bums me out. Ugh if only birth was predictable!

FTM and at this point (37w) I think I'm more anxious for the start of labor than the actual birth.. Every little cramp and all I think is "omg this is it!!!!" It's getting annoying and I feel like it's never gonna happen.

Glad to know I'm not the only one absolutely terrified of labor....

As much as I want LO where and as much as I feel totally awful, I'd be very much ok if the stork for fell out of the sky and landed on my front door step instead of the whole birthing the kid outta my body.

I'm such a planner and hate surprises so not knowing when is killing me. It could be today, I could have to be induced in 4 weeks. The actual labor doesn't scare me but the sleep deprivation once he's here does.
