CS mamas/or anyone who got an epi

I had an epi before I knew I was having a CS but when the dr went to re do it before I went into the OR it didn't take & he had to do a spinal block instead (which also didn't completely work & they had to knock me out).

I've been having weird back pains & headaches... Is this just a regular side affect? I'd rather not use dr google.. It's always the worst case scenario.

  • I had an epi and was told that back pain was a normal side effect but headaches could require care. If it's spinal headaches you might need a patch. How far pp are you?

I'd call the OB and describe the situation: it doesn't sound serious but they might actually be able to fix it (or tell you not to worry about it).

  • They told me I might get headaches from my epic and that I should tell them if I did because they could get something for me (medication) definitely call your doctor and see what he says!
  • If your headache goes away when you're laying down and comes on furiously when you're upright it could be a spinal headache. They recommend taking it easy and laying down as much as possible to heal it. They can also do a patch, but that involves getting another epidural and doesn't always work - I was told it is usually only recommended for people in unbearable pain.

All that being said, I had a spinal headache post c-section. It went away on it's own about a week pp.

Hope this helped. Good luck! Feel better soon.
