Anyone get a drastic hair cut after baby and not regret it??

So i have been bitten by the "I need a change" bug and a girlfriend just got the cutest bob that I'm considering. My hair right now is really long, and I'm definitely a lover of long hair, but with nursing my hair is always up because it's easier than wrestling it away from my boobs or baby hands.

Anyone chop your hair off??

Bonus points for PIPs!!!!

Here's my hair now...(well, on Easter when I actually styled it)

Re: Anyone get a drastic hair cut after baby and not regret it??

  • I did chop off a bunch of my hair!  I thought about it for a while and just wanted to cut a lot off (I took about 10 inches).  No one even knows that I cut it though, because I just bundle it all up in a clip the same way I did before.  There is just less now :-)  Keeps it away from toddler hands that decided pulling hair is fun.  I do love it though, and one day, if we go out somewhere, I will wear it down.

I say go for it!  It will always grow back :-)

  • My hairdresser claims I will...I used to have the cutest bob ever but I grew it out a few years ago. I would love to get back to it, just not sure if I will. I like being able to pull it up. Here is a pic when it was at its shortest (and I was at my skinniest lol) image
  • I haven't yet, but I'm contemplating chopping a bunch off. I'm on the fence though because the last few times I cut it short I ended up hating it. Must be the hormones plummeting that makes us all want to do something crazy!

  • My stylist/friend refused to let me cut it off right after Maizey was born. She said I would regret it. I had an extreme A line for years that i have been growing out for like 3 years now. It's really long, middle of my back. She said to wait til summer and if I still wanted it done she would cut it for me then. I'm glad she made me wait because I really do love my long hair... for now.

I did after DD1. I had long hair and the post partum hair loss was insane. My hair looked stringy and unhealthy. I chopped it to a short angled bob, which was easy and I liked, and it looked full again. I later chopped it into a pixie, which I did not like, and now I have a bob again.

  • I cut about 4-5 inches off. I'd been growing it but with BFing and a new baby my hair was always getting pulled and/or in the way. I switch up my hair quite a bit so I don't feel like it was drastic.

    Just a trim and color
My stylist said NO bug cut because I've been trying to grow it.
I'm cutting it into a longer bob next visit (8 weeks)
  • I cut my hair when I was still pregnant. I cut off 12 inches and I haven't regretted it once!
I found the extra length made me loom super young and I was getting so bored with it. I had the same style for years.
I feel like I look my age (well closer) and I feel great when I actually style my hair, but I never have a ponytail anymore and that's awesome.

  • My main hesitation would be that once its so short you don't have the ponytail option.
Just because its short doesn't nean it won't get in your face.
  • I regretted how much I took off since all of my hair isn't long enough for a ponytail anymore (even 3 weeks later, and my hair grows fast!), but it's really nice to not have my hair annoy LO as she's nursing. I'm going to grow it back out. It was less maintenance when it was longer.

This. I want to do something different with my hair too but I know I will rarely have time to make it look decent if I can't put it into a pony tail.

This! I feel like long hair is so much easier because you have the option to pull it up & go! Short hair seems like it'd be less low maintenance if it's too short for ponytails.

  • I gradually got mine cut shorter. I had really long hair and then got sick of messing with it, so in January I got it cut to shoulder length. Then about two weeks after Natalie was born I got a short bob cut. I don't regret it one bit, it is easier to manage and I don't have to blow dry it. I figure I can always grow it back out anyways.

I went to a pixie and kept it that way for years.  I just started growing it out a bit, but am already thinking about cutting it again.

  • I wanted to drastically change my hair after each kiddo but I've never looked good with short hair so I go straight for color (I also like to color my hair in general) and get highlights that frame my face so that when it's up (which is all the time - baby or no) it still looks nice. My hair us naturally dark brown and I've been several shades of light brown and blonde and I'm going red this time. I've never regretted the change because I could always go back.
  • I ended up with a buzz cut after a botched attempt at a mohawk (which came after two failed, horrible haircuts. Wanted "Rosemary's Baby, got Justine Beiber). I looked horrible, but DS1 had no problem recognizing me.

  • I've always been a short hair person. If you do go for it, make sure to ask for a cut that will look presentable if you don't style it and just let it air dry.

I definitely cut my own hair the day before easter.  DH was quite alarmed when he came into the bathroom and I was "hacking" at my hair with scissors.  It turned out good though.... I have curly/wavy hair so it's pretty forgiving.  I've been wearing it in a bun 99.9% of the time so I didn't think it could get any worse.

  • I'm still debating if I want a reverse bob cut (my typical hair cut for years) or let it grow. With summer approaching, I've always had it short because I tend to get warm a lot... What do you think?

  • @Christal161‌ I like both ways!! (I'm totally no help)

    Here's how I looked one time I had a bob...if I cut it I'd get something similar.

  • I keep my hair anywhere between my mid back to just below my shoulders. I have super thick hair so if I go to short the curls come out and hello little orphan Annie!
  • I got it cut to a chin-length bob a few days before LO was born. I was sick of how long it took to blow dry it.

  • I'll be going for color instead of a cut, at least to begin with. Thinking about either drastic highlights or an ombre look
