Trouble TTC

Environmental Factors and IF

There is a possibility that I may have started ovulating on my own, so we are continuing to try on our own for a bit.  I am trying to make as many lifestyle changes as I can to increase our chances.  I know there's a lot of literature about chemicals and toxins around the house that can affect fertility (including this Bump articles: https://pregnant.thebump.com/getting-pregnant/fertility-ovulation/articles/10-ways-home-making-you-infertile.aspx), but the info is so overwhelming that I end up not actually following up on it.

Are there certain chemicals or household items that are particularly bad and I should be sure to get rid of?  Are there natural brands that you recommend?  Any info that simplifies this info would be super helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Environmental Factors and IF

  • Pinterest has a lot of great ideas about natural cleaners.  I recently switched over to Seventh Generation cleaners (Target had them on sale and there was a cartwheel coupon).  I know that Clorox Greenworks is another brand and then there's Jessica Alba's honest company.

I'm not discounting a switch to more natural products ... but are you eating clean too?  I'm more worried about the food that I'm eating and have made changes to eat healthier foods than I have been.
Married on October 20, 2012.  Began trying in January 2013.
RE appointment & testing December 2013 - February 2014= Unexplained IF, possible endometriosis
IUI#1- March 22 (100mg clomid, 75 mg of Bravelle, Ovidrel trigger) = BFP!!!

  • I'm always on the lookout now for parabens in my lotions, soaps and hair products- I switched to Aveeno. I'm also cautious not to heat up food in plastic containers, and I read an article warning against even storing food in plastic containers. I'm trying to take small steps since I figure it can't hurt. I never worried about this stuff but here I am, 2+ years with IF and i'm willing to make any changes necessary.
