Stalker ex MIL

Something really strange happened to me on the weekend. I ran into my ex ex boyfriend's mom (he and I were together when I was 16 until I was 19). We were at the same beach, both we and she have houses in the same beach condominium. I've never seen her before there since our houses are far apart, but since I saw her there I came over to say hello. She seemed really pleased to see me, and then started telling me everything she knew about my life: when I had gotten married, DH's name and last name, the age of my DD, that my in-laws had a house in another condominium.... Lots of details. She then told me that my ex boyfriend had gotten married a year ago, TO A GIRL THAT LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE ME!
I think it was very odd, but my mom says it isn't. I'm friends with her sons on FB (except my ex), and her niece who I went to high school with, but to find out all that info she must have really looked into my FB. And the last comment was definitely a WTF.

  • I don't find it odd only because if the info is out there to look at on your facebook and you are friends with some of her family then her curiosity just got the best of her.  The joys of social media.  If you don't want people to know about your life you can't put it anywhere on the internet.

  • I know.  Some of it was still weird, though, like the fact that my MIL had a house in another condo (not on my Facebook), and exactly which house was ours (not on my Facebook, either). She must have gotten out of her way to find out about those.
I don't put out a lot of info on my FB account, but it's incredible how much gets out there.

    Yeah, I think I agree.

  • I have to say I know nothing about them. I guess I'm not curious enough!

I do not pay attention either, but a lot of people do.

  • Plus, isn't your husband a movie director? That's a cool job, people would talk about that more because it's more interesting.

He is, but I don't think he's really famous. His movies are, but not him.

It's certainly a lesson in social media privacy!
It's not that the info about my family is private (I mean, the year we got married, DH's name and DD's age), but to KNOW all that info and have it ready (specially if I don't have her on FB) seems stalkerish.
Knowing about my ILs is weird.
Telling me my ex BF's wife looks exactly like me is weird too.
