Trouble TTC

Well, THAT was embarassing!

Anyone else find themselves profoundly embarassed by something during this process?

Today I had a water sonogram performed to evaluate a fibroid.       I had all but dismissed this appointment,   thinking it was no big deal (afterall I feared my hsg for weeks and it was no big deal).    And then IT happened.  I screamed a slew of swear words, at the top of my lung capacity during the procedure.  People in the lobby could hear me, I am sure of it.    Instant tears too,   I was a mess.  I knocked the light out of the Drs hands, and just kept swearing uncontrollably.    I didn't even know I was capable of stringing together words like that.

This from a girl who's appendix burst and I went to Epcot the next day.  Since when am I such a WIMP?

It did hurt.   Bad,   Don't get me wrong....but did I really need the whole third floor of the medical building to know about it?   While we are at it, I left my underwear and shoes at the office.

I really need to get it together!

  • Yikes! Just think of it as you adding a little excitement to their routine. I have to ask, how did you forget your shoes? I nearly left my underwear at the RE at my last monitoring appointment (had a panic moment trying to get dressed when I couldn't find them anywhere, then they magically rematerialized.) But the shoes? I just have this image of a panicked, mortified woman dashing out of the clinic barefoot! Joking aside, sorry it was painful, but thanks for the laugh! :)

  • I'm so sorry! It must have been the shock of the unexpected, after your easier HSG and not expecting it to be so bad.

I think it's a good thing for the medical staff that you did that - sometimes any males in this business need to be reminded of all the pain we experience and how much we (usually) stoically put up with. :)

I'm glad your test is over, hope the fibroid will be relatively easy to deal with!!

  • Gah!!! :( I whimpered and got teary-eyed up when they strapped my legs down for my HSG (they seriously couldn't have made the process any more frightening) but I was in a room full of other women and they mostly either ignored me or tried to reassure me.

I'd probably start cussing, too, if I experienced completely unexpected pain.  Don't be embarrassed!  This shit sucks like no other and I think we all deserve to vent if it becomes unbearable.  I'm sure your doctors understand, too.

Oh my gosh!  I would have flipped out having anyone tie my legs down?!?   Although I wouldn't be surprised if my RE doesn't want me in restraints moving forward.

As for the shoes,  ladies I can't even tell you how it happened.   Once it was over all I could think of was wanting out of there.    I had cute heels on for work,    but was wearing my "stirrup special"  socks I keep in my purse now for appointments.   They are ridiculous... with bright smiley faces on them.     My sister bought them for me as a joke....and I cruised all the way home wearing them.     It was like an out of body experience or something.

Sometimes you just have to laugh even though this crap isn't funny!   :)

Wow, for you to forget your shoes, that must have been some serious pain!!   That's awful!   Did your RE finish?   If not, tell them you want serious painkillers first.
I held on long enough for her to finsh. Thank goodness!   I honestly think the fibroid is sitting just inside my cervix.   Hence the pain.    It still hurts a bit today  which I am sure isn't normal.

It was awful, I think it was the surprise factor that made it so shocking though.     I was first told I had a fibroid that needed to be removed 18 months ago....ever since it has been a bag of second and mixed opinions.   I feel like my time, patience, and bank account are being chipped away at with this.   Ready to evict the darn thing and move forward!

  • Well, CRAP!   My gyn still refuses to do my myoectomy..but she did refer me to someone who does this sort of procedure.

The bad news is they are going to have to repeat the water sono.

This time I think I will just leave my shoes in the car.

    I could just cry.
