Trouble TTC

OPK Question...

So I wasn't supposed to start testing until saturday butI started today just to try it since its my first time. Well I happened to have a faint line so I guess its good I started today. So my question is how many times a day or when (if any specific time is better) do I test. Just looking for some advice on what you ladies do. My doctor told me to test every other day starting on day 10.

Thank you ladies!!

Re: OPK Question...

  • I was told everyday. Also its better to do 2 times a day. Dont use FMU but hold it for a couple of hours. Checking in the evening too!

  • I test every day starting day 10 and once the second line starts to darken, I test two times a day until I get a solid double line.  I generally only have a strong solid line during a six hour window, and usually during the evening.
  • I think a faint line is really common and you could still be a ways away from O. O is anywhere from CD14 to CD21 for me so I've wasted a lot of tests, and even a week early there is also somewhat of a second line.

I was using 2-3 tests a day near O to catch a line that is actually fully *as dark* as the control line, but I learned that for my body, I can test just once around 3pm and if I get a line that is much darker than other days (and a portion of it, like a sliver, is as dark as control) then that day or the next I O, so it saves me tests and the embarrassment of trying to sneakily test at work multiple times!

I personally would not do every other day. I think it would be very easy to miss the window, and I've never heard such advice before. The digital tests from a store are really expensive, but if you order Wondfos or the like from Amazon or something it can be really cheap, if that's not what you got already.

Good luck, I hope you get a nice clear OPK+ soon!!

Thanks guys, I did order the wondfo ones a while back so I have thoes but I just did my first test for today and I have just the control line...im so confused
  • I test in the morning and then after work -- CD10ish to whenever I get my +.  I always get my first surge in the afternoon, and then it stays positive through the next morning and afternoon.  No 2nd line or a faint 2nd line is negative...positive will be when the 2nd line turns the same or darker!  GL!

  • Every other day?  Nope.  You definitely need to test everyday and I would recommend testing once in the AM and once in the PM so you don't miss your LH surge.
