How Do I Use This?

Ok, first off, I feel really silly asking this. My friend dropped off a bag of maternity items for me to borrow. I know that this is a hands free pumping bra, I just can't picture how to use it. It seems obvious that you don't wear it as a regular bra (nipple holes - thrilling for everyone else!). Do you pack this with your pump, remove your regular bra, and put this on just to pump? Seems like a big extra step, especially when I'll be pumping in my office at work. There's no lock on my door so I hadn't planned on fully undressing my top half to pump... A little guidance for this FTM is greatly appreciated...

  • I've never used one of these, but I would guess maybe you put it on over a nursing bra? Don't feel bad about not knowing, because I'm sure lots of women who haven't used them wouldn't know either!

  • I used one, only at home, but I can't really remember the specifics.  I think I pulled down my top and bra to use it.

I personally found it liberating so I could do something like read while pumping.  Or stick DS1's paci back in 500 times while he screamed at me.  I pumped around the clock after feeding him since I had major supply issues so I might have gone insane without it.

  • I would also suggest getting a "Do not disturb" sign for when you pump and tactfully letting key people in your office know why. Because it's pretty hard to pump without exposing some part of your anatomy, especially if you want to do hands-free pumping.

  • First that design is really...off. The holes I thought need to be larger to hold the bottles and shields to allow for hands free pumping.

As for how to wear it...i would find it easier to undress and put the bra on, insert your shields and hook up the pump. This is to allow for hands free pumping...I'd find it easier to do at home. As for at work O.O i have no idea

If you put a nursing pad under the holes when you're not pumping you can wear it in place of your regular bra.... I have a friend who did this because she worked and had a long commute, so she would pump in the car even.  Unbutton the shirt, slip out the nursing pad, good to go.

It's not ideal, but pumping isn't ever really convinient.... this does make it a lot easier though.

  • I used this all the time when pumping at work for my son. Just make sure door is locked, as I was accidently walked in on in my husband's office at church.  It made it so I was able to read during pumping breaks.  Flip down nursing bra, secure over top, insert shields into holes and pump away.

Exactly what I was looking for - thank you!

I'll be getting a sign for the door, but there are only 5 of us in the office so I'm not too worried about it. A zip up sweater sounds like a great option. Thanks, ladies!
