Baby kicks: loves or hates?

Silly and bored post. When my baby kicks a ton I tend to think it's when she likes what I'm doing (certain foods and pop or the warm water in the bathtub). When my friend's baby does lots of kicks she thinks it's because the baby hates what she's doing (sitting too long or laying in a position he hates). When your LO kicks a ton do you tend to think it's because they love or hate what you're doing?

    Both.

If my uterus is uncomfortable for me (from sitting up too long or laying on my back) she will kick and move around a ton. But also if I am more relaxed and comfortable she will push and stretch more.

  • Whenever I drink really yummy root beer, he goes crazy. I think he loves it.

  • I think both too. I think she doesn't like me to wear pants or when things or people touch my belly because she definitely kicks the point of contact. We watched Bladerunner which has a lot of shooting and she kicked violently and made me really uncomfortable, so I assume that was a negative. I assume the rhythmic pulsing to music and the lurching after I go to the bathroom are positive. The middle-of-the-night assaults that wake me up might be boredom?

Mmm, root beer. This has been my kryptonite this pregnancy. It's too bad I can't live of the stuff!

  • Definitely both! Though for me, it generally depends on how I'm feeling if I think he loves me or is being a pain on purpose just to mess with me :). I project maliciousness onto my unborn children, did the same thing with C.

    Married DH 7/30/11

    CSC arrived 5/7/12

    CHC arrived 6/2/14

  • I also think it's both. She moves around a lot and hides during Doppler readings and ultrasounds, but when DH rubs my belly she goes absolutely crazy. When I eat certain things or sit in certain positions she gets calm or crazy too. So I think it depends.

  • I think both. If I lay with my belly too much on the bed or press down on my belly too much he kicks a bunch so I think he's cramped. When my bf plays music for him, he goes a little nuts and I'd like to think it's bc he likes it.

  • Both

I feel it mainly on the right side oh most all the time. During the day he kicks all over but at night he hangs out on the right side I think I have a bruise from him kicking so much. Sometimes the way I sit for long period of time he tends to let me know by moving or kicking around.
  • Kicks and squirms - he likes something or is hanging out having a good time.

If I get sick after eating - obviously because he didn't like something. Not horomones or anything like that.

  • @njbabymama I'm right there with you! I haven't really noticed a connection between what I do and when LO moves. She moves randomly throughout the day, so I know she's okay but I haven't been able to get her to move by eating or drinking anything or by what position I'm in. My mom really wants to feel her kick but I can't predict when it is going to happen, so we just wait! DH has felt her kick only because he has happened to have his hand on my belly when she kicked or stretched.

  • Both. When I'm bent over at my desk, she kicks me until I straighten up. Also, when I roll over onto my back at night, she kicks me until I get back on my side. I think I'm annoying her at those times.

She also goes nuts when I eat anything cold or sugary, but I interpret that as loving it.
  • Totally depends.

Sometimes they move around just because I think they like to stretch and swim in there. Other times they move because we've startled them (loud noises and cold drinks usually do the trick). Sometimes they get pissy when I try to move them out of my ribs and they'll kick me. And sometimes they are just fighting in utero and kick each other and I'm just an innocent bystander in their way.

  • That GIF cracks me up, so I had to change my siggy.  :-D
  • Both. He kicks a lot when I drink my afternoon tea. He kicks me when I lay on my back, he prefers me to sleep on my side. He kicks me everytime I go poop, very odd, maybe he is happy he is getting more room?? He kicks me all the time....until DH puts his hand on my stomach, then he stops.

  • According to my OB, stealth kicks are a known fact!  All babies will kick the crap out of you until your husband tries to feel it, at which point they immediately stop.  Although mine just really enjoys moving constantly.

  • Ditto on both. And also I think sometimes it's just random.
