Crib Mattress pad, sheets, etc??

How do you have your crib mattress set up for baby? Are you using the ultimate crib sheet or layering with a mattress pad then sheet and do multiple layers? Just curious as to what works from other mom's!

Re: Crib Mattress pad, sheets, etc??

  • We are just doing a crib sheet.. and I plan on buying a sheet saver at walmart to lay LO on. That way if she messes or does anything under her I just have to take that out of the crib and replace it without the hassle of changing a sheet at 3 am.

  • Im not a mommy yet, so Im learning too, but DH and I have the mattress, a waterproof matress pad, and a  sheet. I heard somewhere, you want the mattress to be on the firm side (having to do with SIDS) and so we didnt want too many layers.... HTH... Good luck! :)

  • waterproof pad, sheet, then sheet saver,

this method worked well with DS. the sheet saver caught any pee accidents/poop explosions. i just removed it & added another-no need to change the sheet. i heard the ultimate crib sheet is great, but i never had a need to buy it.

This is what we are using as well.

  • Right now it's set up with mattress, mattress pad, sheet, and sheet saver. I want to make it as easy for myself as possible.

  • We use a fitted waterproof mattress pad and then the sheet. I'll probably put a small towel or other kind of barrier beneath DD's bottom at night too, just to protect from leaks and blowouts.

Our mattress is waterproof, but I like the pad because it adds an extra layer of protection (I'd rather put on a new pad than scrub the mattress in the middle of the night) and because it's softer and less crinkly than the sheet over bare mattress.

  • With DD and with this one we'll do the waterproof mattress protector and a sheet. I have two of each so quick change if need be. Honestly only once or twice I had to change it in the middle of the night. I agree too with above too many "layers" will soften the mattress when you want it firm.
