Its printed on my desk calendar is the only way I knew lol They used to give us a 1/2 day vacation for today but stopped doing that years ago. My boss would NEVER remember it, but theres 4 of us ladies that fall into the catagory & we have made the administrative professional decision that lunch is on him today
LOL I would never seriously do it with out his OK. I don't even buy a coke on my card with out his OK. I only said it like that b/c he normally tells me "hey I'm buying you guys lunch today, but need you to go pick it up with your card".
No worries tho. Someone tipped him off already & he came in & said hes picking up lunch today & for me to pick what I wanted. & then came back & said "if I don't get off my conference call in time can you go pick it up?"....see what I mean? LOL
@ready-or-not that would totally happen here. Except my boss never remembers. My outgoing boss is on vacation this week and the person I support who will be my new boss is traveling this week so I got bupkiss from them. But the company does a breakfast and gift baskets with a $25 gift card so that's nice.
me: boss, they said it would be ready in 20 minutes, do you want to go get it or need me to?
boss: oh no, i'll go get it, thanks so much for taking everyone's order & calling it in. I'll leave now. BTW, did you already put it on your card?
me: no, did you want me to?
boss: yes please....(literally 4 seconds later hes back).....Oh crap, I forgot I have a call to get on in 5 minutes, I hate to ask but could you go pick it up?
me: LOL sure, give me your keys
& this is how it rolls....oh well, a free lunch is a free lunch, right?
The above just highlights how much they really do need us lol
I'm shocked, shocked I tell you - flowers were just delivered to me by the person I will soon report to even though she's not here. I'm have mega hesitations about working for her but at least she's up to speed on acknowledging even the dumb events lol
Nothing for me. Only person who said anything was the IT lady when she did her rounds. I know we got an email about it being this week. For as big of company I work for you would think we would get something, but nope
Damn I would have ate the doughnut & chucked the peeps LOL
Boo to all the bosses who can't even throw down a "great job" for you ladies today. I know its a made up "holiday" but seriously, Admins are the group that keeps the worlds turning, am I right?!? We push the papers, we answer the calls, we staff the events, we pay the working people, we keep the supplies, we handle the shit. So for all of you from all of me, great job & high fives!
(totally bored at work today. Plenty to do, no motivation to do it. Happy Admins day to me!)

My boss who is leaving next week doesn't have an admin at her new job. I laffed. I schedule her doctor's appointments, her kid's dentist appointments, keep his school/sports schedule for her, buy her lunch. Hell, I've purchased her kid's birthday present and a book he needed for a book report.

The conversation went exactly like this:
me: boss, they said it would be ready in 20 minutes, do you want to go get it or need me to?
