Trouble TTC

Hats off to you ladies who have done multiple cycles of this!

Seriously - this is maddening.  I have a lot of respect for all of you who go through this month after month and keep your sanity.  I feel like I'm seriously ready to lose it.

I woke up this AM .....took my BBT.  I'm 11dpiui.  In the past 7-8 days, my temps have pretty much been in the range of 98-98.3.  Yesterday it was 98.2 and this AM it was 97.9.  My first thought was "Oh no, my temp is on the decline ....I know that that means."  And immediately started bawling.  Poor DH turned to me and asked what was wrong.  I said "I'm not pregnant this cycle, I just have a feeling."  He consoled me and asked how I knew - Did I test?  Did I see my period starting?  I said no, but my temp dropped by 0.3 from yesterday.  He doesn't completely understand and follow BBT testing but he just gave me this funny "You're crazy." look and said don't jump to any conclusions until you know for sure.  And if I wasn't pregnant, we would move on from it and try again.  It was nice to get a more sane perspective from him haha.  My mind is a very troubled, obsessive, unstable place right now .....

So I don't think I'll make it to Friday, ladies!  I'm not testing today but I will probably test tomorrow morning.  Friday I will be busy all day with pre-wedding events for my friends wedding (hair color appointment, mani/pedi, rehearsal followed by dinner) - so if I test that morning it would be a little rough if it's not what I am hoping for and I have to spend the day with my friends and paste a smile on my face to cover my disappointment. At least if I test tomorrow, I can have time to wrap my head around the result (whatever it is) before I have to spend all of Fri surrounded by friends/family of the bride (including a very adorable baby).  I know there's a chance that it will be a false neg - but really I feel like I will know over the next 2 days based on the trend of my BBT.  I just can't wait til Fri!!  I am seriously about to crack here.

  • Thanks ladies.

@calindi - It never even occurred to me NOT to check BBT during a medicated cycle.  It's just what I do, haha.  Maybe I should abandon it in future cycles because you're right, all it does is give me one more thing to obsess about and overanalyze (as if there aren't enough things to overanalyze).  And I like your analogy of a phoenix from the ashes.  ;)  Thank God for the resilient human spirit.

@athlete010688 - Yup, the BBT is a blessing and a curse.  It can tell us so much about what's going on in our cycles and yet any number that's out of range from the others - I can spend hours staring at my chart trying to figure it out.  And then I end up googling "pregnancy BBT sample charts" ....it's insane!  :)

I'm one of those that's temping on medicated cycles, I'm even on progesterone now and still temping. It's just second nature to me. I love waking up in the morning drinking my coffee punching in my temp and then looking at all my friends charts and see how they are doing. I don't stress to much about drops because I have them all the time when I'm pregnant or not. I do have a little bit of an anal personality so I can't stop charting it to much chaos for me.

Yes I know I should really be on meds, but I just can't fit anymore in my pill box with all the damn vitamins. :-)

    Fucking bump!!!!
  • I second quitting temping. I am a bit of a control freak and like temping because it gave me something to do. I still use FF to track my meds and monitoring appointments, but I am so happy that I no longer have to wake up early everyday to temp. I even gave up temping on break cycles. In between treatments, I just track CM and OPKs.

Stepping away from the BBT was one of my best decisions.  I made myself CRAZY with it. You are being monitored anyway, so you really get all the info you need I think!

  • I have to say, I have temped all of my other medicated cycles except for this last one and it was so liberating! I got so obsessive about every jump in temp - up or down - that I even found myself not sleeping as well because I was so fixated on what my temp was going to be that morning. Not good! Like PP, I have been using FF to track my meds, IUI and trigger, but have left the thermometer alone.

  • I have temped during medicated cycles and not temped during medicated cycles.  Honestly, I prefer not temping.  This could be because I had previously been temping for over a year (and that crap had lost its luster long ago), but mainly because it's not necessary.  Between monitoring appointments, b/w, and trigger shots, I know we have good timing.  Since that's ultimately the point of temping in the first place, I figure I'll save myself the step every morning.

  • I stopped using OPKs and temping when I started monitored cycles with the RE. It was liberating to not have to freak out about it all and I enjoy not having to wake up early every morning to do it. Sometimes towards the end of my TWW I will temp too see where I'm at, but my temps always stay high and AF doesn't come until 16-18dpiui so it's only ever gotten my hopes up. DH and I make beta days date night, we call them pity party for 2. After we get the bfn we go out to dinner, reconnect and get ourselves psyched up for the next cycle. One of these days this will be a celebratory dinner, but for now I really enjoy these dinners and always come home feeling better.

  • This is my first medicated cycle and it's also my first cycle not temping.  It has actually been a relief to not take my temp in the morning and I actually think it made things less stressful because like PPs have stated, it's one less thing to obsess about.  It felt nice to just leave it at the hands of the doctors, ultrasounds and blood work.  I will however test out my trigger, so maybe I am just replacing my thing to obsess about lol

  • Hang in there!  It is crazy how we live two weeks at a time,  isn't it!? Fingers crossed for you!

I am going to be a complete and total wreck I think once I actually start medicated cycles.     I have been fighting for nearly two years now to get pregnant,  and still have a surgery before we can start talking about getting the meds going.

Keep the faith!     Every day is a step closer to holding your little one in your arms.    We just don't know how many steps we need to take to get there.
