Not sleeping!!

Did anyone notice a change in their LO's sleep patterns when you returned to work? Em used to STTN consistently, I returned to work and about 3 days in, she started fighting going to bed harder, and waking multiple times each night. This is just making the guilt for me even worse. It may be totally unrelated, but the timing is awful!

Re: Not sleeping!!

  • I go back on Thursday. I have heard of this happening! Good luck.

  • Reverse cycling is pretty normal for BF babies. It should get better once baby adjusts to your new schedule.

My baby is kind of crazy and it took her longer, but I recently found out that if I put her to bed earlier like at 6:30, she sleeps better.

  • Likely one of many sleep regressions.  Probably unrelated to going back to work as I didn't notice that with either of my babies.  3 months is one of the first major sleep regressions other wise known as the 4 month wakeful.  Perfect timing for going back top work!  Usually hits around 4 months but could be a little earlier.  Its a growing time, a brain development time.etc.  I read this site a lot and I think it is helpful.  GL!

  • DD stopped STTN right around the same age but it did not coincide with me returning to work. She eventually got better but now at 7 months has never really gotten back to those 10-11 hour nights she did for a while at 2 months old.
    DS: 2/17/11          DD: 9/4/13
  • This happened with DS. He was STTN great and when I returned to work at 14 weeks he started waking up at night again. He was BF so I just assumed he was reverse cycling.

Is she in DC now? It's probably just an adjustment period or if she is in DC, she may be getting sick (my LO got sick at the end of the first week in DC). Just keep with your regular bed time routine and hopefully she adjusts soon.
