Ugh. Random person vent

So, I was at the food store with Reese today. The food store we went to, at the cash register you can donate a dollar to childhood cancer.

We were waiting in line to pay, and the cashier asked the women in front of us if she wanted to donate a dollar to childhood cancer and she said no.

I seriously wanted to take Reese's hat off and be like "REALLY? You won't donate a dollar?"

But I didn't.

It still made me sad and bothered me too much.

*sighs*

This parenting thing is hard.

  • I mean, for all you know she already contributes a hefty amount to that and/or other causes. I totally understand why it would bother you, but you can't let stuff like that get you down. You never know the next person's story.
Oh I know. It just made me sad. Like I said, I would have never said anything to them.

  • Like I said, realistically I do get the other side. I get that maybe they really can't afford to spend the dollar. Or they donate to other charities. I get that. But emotionally it just sucks.

  • Yeah, I often have to say no because they won't take it off my card with the rest of my purchase and I don't usually have a 1 dollar bill.
But I do get why it hurts. :( I'm sorry. Hopefully she is a very nice person in the rest of her life that donates regularly elsewhere.

  • Oh--I know, and truthfully I really don't fault anyone. I get it, it was just hard emotionally on a whole different level. It wasn't about the dollar so much as it just hit me (12 weeks later) that Reese is one of THOSE kids.

We were at the mall the other day and I was asked if I wanted to donate to the hospital that Levi would be getting his surgeries.  I wanted to give her everything I had in my purse.  When it's your kids, it's different to you.

  • ((More hugs)) I can totally imagine going into momma bear mode in a situation like that. I'm sorry it hurt your heart.
