We shopped together and gave input, but we each picked out our own. Engagement ring I showed him what I liked, but then he went and bought it on his own.
I picked mine out, but DH was along. Well, actually with him I had it narrowed down to two and then I had my sister come with to help me decide. But they both were just there for moral support.

DH picked out both my engagement ring, as well as our wedding rings. To be fair, we did do a little browsing together (for the e-ring).
What he ended up with was not something I would have expected. But I love it. And my wedding ring is absolutely gorgeous and perfect. He got both from this amazing little secondhand jeweler.
I picked SS. After DH asked my dad's blessing my mom have him my grandmothers wedding ring. I took it to the jeweler to get some ideas about how to re set it and then DH took it in and ultimately chose the setting.
Dh is a jeweller so he designed my engagement ring and hand picked each diamond. He knew the general style I liked and did an excellent job! We designed my wedding band together and he designed his own wedding band.
I picked it out and absolutely hate the ring now. I don't know what I was thinking when I picked it out. It's put away and I just wear two cheap bands: a plain band made from tungsten carbide and a titanium eternity band with CZs.
I picked mine out from an ad in a magazine years before I even met DH - I happened upon it, thought "that's the most beautiful ring I've ever seen," and tore out the page and kept it. Years later, when the time came, I got it out, and it turned out the jeweler was based in the downtown LA jewelry district and that ring was not as crazy expensive as I'd feared. We went to look at them in person together, I picked the options that I liked, and then we left and didn't discuss it again. He proposed with the ring a few months later .
I pretty much picked my engagement ring out. We went looking together a couple times, but weren't loving anything. Then, one weekend we were in NYC and just wondered into this little jewelry store on a whim and saw this ring we both loved. For our wedding bands, we just went to a local store and each picked out our own; they are both just plain bands.
I said A Relative. DH's Great Great Grandpa picked it out for his Great Great Grandma in the 1890s. It's been passed down since. But that's the engagement ring.
Wedding rings we picked out together.
That is just amazing! I love that kind of thing! DH and I were married in the same church my Great, Great Grandfather was married in, it was so special. I'm sure you feel the same having that ring!
If you don't mind me asking, what does it look like?
My girlfriends took me window shopping and I pointed out looks and styles I liked. They passed on the info to DH and he and my uncle designed my engagement ring. I love it! My wedding band is a mirror image of my engagement ring so they fit perfectly together. DH selected his own ring, though I was with him when he was looking.
DH chose mine and the engagement ring and wedding band came as a set. We had looked at rings together previously but what he chose was completely unexpected. We picked out his ring together because it was important to me to choose something he would actually wear.
I have a fancy engagement ring and a v simple wedding band. I picked out both, he's just not interested in jewelry, and wouldn't have known what style I like.
DH did and I wasn't even expecting the proposal at all. It was a total surprise for me. I had assumed we would start looking at rings in the upcoming months, but damn he did a great job picking the ring. It truly is a one of a kind and is so beautiful. We had dated 11 months when he proposed.
