Trouble TTC

First IUI scheduled for Thursday! Input?

Hello ladies. Just got the call from my doctor that I am going to give my Ovidril shot tonight, and then our IUI will be Thursday morning :) I'm excited yet nervous. Anyone have any tips, advice, or thoughts on IUI? Are there any restrictions afterwards? Side effects? Anything comments are much appreciated!

Ditto what Naria said.  Mine did say to take it easy the rest of the day - nothing too crazy.  Only one was a little painful, she was having trouble getting it in, but they aren't too bad.  Good luck!

  • I did read a study that having a full bladder increases success rates. I don't know why lol Other than that, the IUI is easy! We moved our whole house that same afternoon. My RE says the same thing about having intercourse that night. Good luck!!

  • The actual IUI is no sweat. No worse than a pap. Our RE, too, recommends to BD the night of the IUI and sometimes the next day. The worst part for me has always been a few hours before the IUI when my ovaries feel like they are going to explode after the trigger. I don't ovulate on my own so perhaps that's how it feels naturally, but for me I've always associated it with the trigger.

  • My RE's office actually has me empty my bladder before the IUI, but I've never had problems with the catheter.  To each office their own, I suppose.

The IUI is actually no big deal.  At least in my experience.

    Best of luck!

  • How far in advanced did everyone trigger before IUI? My docs said to trigger at 10:00pm tonight (so now), and then IUI is at 10:00am on Thursday. Does this sound about right?
