Wow appetite!

All of a sudden I'm starving all the time! I try to eat pretty healthy so I have to eat every couple hours it's exhausting lol! I'm going to try to boost my protein intake to keep me full longer without adding a ton of calories every couple hours. Any protein suggestions to keep it interesting? I find it hard to believe we only need 300 extra calories a day. I know I'm going over that but not fretting too much just listening to my body.

Re: Wow appetite!

  • I often have humus with veggies or pita in the afternoon. I find that keeps me full for a while! I also buy kettle brand baked chips, which are the least of the evils of chips, and it makes me feel like I'm having a delicious treat with the humus!

  • I used to eat pistachios and an apple as my afternoon snack. Today I ate a serving of roasted almonds and my apple and HOLY SHIT I was full for a long time! Almonds are tasty and good for you, too!

  • I'll definitely eat a spoonful of peanut butter straight from the jar in between meals to tide me over. Deviled eggs are great--you can grab half or a whole one easily. We had a cooked chicken in the fridge this week: good to pick at. Also, toasted pumpkin seeds! Eden organics makes spicy ones that are a-ma-zing. I keep a bag in my backpack and munch on them when I'm out and need something ASAP. My son loves them, too.

I also second what others have mentioned--hummus, almonds/pecans/walnuts, whole cheeses, whole plain yogurt with a little fruit or honey. We make sure to eat beans once a day if possible, too--good protein and fiber. I usually eat very light and lean and I'm having fun eating more food, and richer food, lately! :)

  • Lately I've been having the problem where I am starving but nothing sounds appealing.  Or what does sound good is super low calorie and I know I need more than that to stay full.  I need to find some more dense snacks than just an apple or carrots or something!

  • I had steak and Brussels sprouts for dinner tonight, and that usually fills me up to the point of discomfort, but I'm seriously considering a bedtime almond binge.

  • I've learned the hard and hangry way to keep a bag of almonds in my purse at all times. Just a few tide me over and a handful will keep me full for a decent amount of time!

  • I have some whole foods trail mix that is my life saver at work.
  • I'm not a big meat eater so I have cottage cheese, nuts, greek yogurt or a cheese stick. But I'm right there with you. I'm STARVING all of a sudden. I eat my normal lunch and could eat another one afterwards. It came on a of a sudden.

  • I am hungry all of the time, too, but I have noticed my portion sizes are much smaller. Usually half of what I used to eat fills me up, so when I am hungry again two hours later I don't feel too bad about it! I pack healthy snacks and roll with it!
