Amish friendship bread-fixed!

My MIL gave me some starter last weekend. Would it be strange to pass it on to moms at a play date tomorrow? I don't know them; it's the first time we're meeting.

But the bump has made me paranoid. If you got starter from someone you just met... Would it be strange? Or would you think it was nice?

  • I have no idea what you are talking about....a bread maker?

  • Do you not want to use it at all? If I recall correctly you can make batches and keep recycling it and wait until you know them better to give them some later. If not, I think it would be ok if you wrapped it up nice. I got a plastic baggie of goo from a friend. I don't take baggies of goo from strangers. ;)

  • I wouldn't want someone to just give me some without asking if I wanted it first.
  • What is it?

  • I probably wouldn't pass it out to people I didn't know.  Maybe freeze it (I think I remember freezing it) and pass it on once you know them better and/or ask them first?

  • Thanks guys!

My MIL gave it to me and said I could give it to all my friends and so I feel sort of obligated to do it.

I hadn't thought about making THEM feel obligated.

I'll just tell her my friends said it was DELICIOUS.

  • I would offer it too, they don't have to take it if they don't want to but it is delicious! I'd take it if offered, haven't had any in forever. Wonder if Google has a starter recipe...
