What the Eff is wrong with kids today?

There was a bomb threat at DD1's elementary school today.  There was a note scribbled on the wall in the boys bathroom that the school was going to be blown up.  I know it is just a childish prank and the school brought in the police and bomb squad but I am having all sorts of panicky feels about this right now.  I shouldn't have to worry about sending my kids to school!

    Ugh, I half expect this in a high school, but it makes me sad an elementary kid could come up with a threat like that.

    I'm sorry :( we had a few bomb threats when I was in elementary school. They were scary but the teachers were awesome. Calm, cool, and collected.

    I am surprised at how anxious this is making me.  I want to go pick her up now.  I probably would if the other two weren't napping.

    Scary isn't it? In our little town, the high school and the elementary school are right next to each other. 3 wks ago they had a guy running around in the woods behind the schools with a bowe. The school was on lock down for 3 hours, and the parents had to get a police escort to and from the school in order to pick up their children.

    Just take confort in the fact that the teachers are highly trained in how to react to these situations, and they will do everything they have to do to keep your child safe.

    Very sad. No where is safe anymore. At one point schools were. Not today.....smh

    The more I think about this the angrier I get.  This is one of the best school districts in my state and in one of the top 10 safest towns in America.  When shit like this happens in the district, it is kept very hush-hush.  DS goes to the nursery school right next door to the elementary school and his teachers were not notified of this incident.

    I just picked her up at normal dismissal time.  No mention of the incident from DD and no correspondence from school.
