GRR….I don't know why this makes me so mad….But it does!

DS preschool is co op so I have to volunteer down there to get a discount. I was just there on friday. Yesterday I found out that one of the kid is out with the chicken pox. GRRR….DD is only 8 months and I am so pissed that she came in contact with that kid. What if it was something worse? I know its a little irrational but non-vaxers make me so freaking stabby.

Kids can still get chicken pox in preschool. Usually they only have 1 dose of the vax by then and they can still catch it.

  • Are you sure they're non-vax people?
  • If you know for a fact that they're non-vaxxers you have every right to be upset. But vaccines are not 100% effective, so it's quite possible they followed the CDC schedule to a T and their child still got chicken pox.

I assume she didn't have the 8 month old there, but is concerned that she and her older child were exposed while they have a child in the house too young to be vaccinated, which is a reasonable concern IMO. I worry when there's a local outbreak of a vaccine preventable disease but I have a child too young to have had the vaccine and would definitely worry more if there was that direct a risk of exposure, so I totally understand that.

  • Maybe he is unable to get vaccinated for medical reasons.

  • Totally non related but I have never ever heard if a co op preschool until the bump. They don't exist here as far as I know.

Just for fun this thread inspired me to look up the vax exemption rates in my state.
    X_X

The private school closest to my house has an exemption rate of 66%.

If you live in a high exemption area like I do I think you can go ahead and be annoyed.

I just did this and landed on a site with this gem:

The Chickenpox (Varivax) vaccine containing MRC-5 and RA 273, is obtained from human babies that were electively aborted. The acceptance of this vaccine promotes abortion and violates the Sixth Commandment of "Thou Shall Not Kill".

    Wow. The internet.

    Seems legit.

  • Anecdotes FTW...I know three non-related kids who all got chicken pox even though they were vaccinated.
