  You can use just about anything you want in Best Bottoms.  I use prefolds and flats all the time.  If you want something that specifically snaps in, the SoftBums pods fit the snap "holes" but they only have snaps on one side, not two like BBs.  Try flats though.  Seriously, they are awesome & much cheaper than BB inserts!

  Do the flats stay in place? I have a buttload of prefolds I got when I was going to use diaper covers when DD was first born. I forget which ones I have. DD is now almost 10 months and quite a mover.

  The Softbum (only have a back snap, no front snap, and are not cheaper) or Imagine inserts will also snap into a BestBottom.

  If you have the cover adjusted so you have a good fit, then yes they stay in place. My guy is almost 19 months old & is very active.  I've never had one shift enough that it caused a leak.

  SoftBums, Imagine, and Alva bamboo "color snap/4.0" inserts all work with BB. All of those only have 1 snap, not 2 like BB. I haven't tried them but I hear a lot about Buttons, I guess they are compatible as well.

  The Imagine inserts have two snaps, the same as the BB inserts.
