One & Done: Only child

Almost done

You guys, nearly all our stuff is in the trucks and we're having wine sitting around in folding chairs.

The house is so empty it echoes. It is bittersweet. I will miss this place. I do look forward to the new house and the next step in our lives, but we will sure miss our first home.

  • I felt the same way. So excited to move on but still a bit sad since you're leaving a lot of memories behind. The last day we left our old house, DH & I walked through it & took pics. I was sobbing even though I couldn't wait to get the heck out. LOL

How long did you live there?
About 3.5 years. It was our first home. I got pregnant right after we moved in.

The house is full of memories: first smile, first step, etc. Seeing the walls so empty makes me feel sad, but the new buyer seems nice and loves our house. I hope he'll treat it well.

A house becomes so personal. It feels like we sold a little piece of ourselves, especially since we did a lot of projects ourselves and we're proud. We finished a bedroom and a bath on the first level. We also drywalled a family room. We were so close to being done.

Wow that's so similar to us.
It was our first house, too &  we lived there for about 3 years & 3 months when we sold it. Did a *ton* of projects by ourselves & then of course got pregnant & brought DS home to that house. I know exactly what you mean.
I can tell you from very recent experience that you'll make new memories very fast. We've only been here for almost 4 months & it feels like we've been here for so much longer because it really feels like home.
    Good luck with everything!

That's good to hear. We already met 3 sets of neighbors and got a bottle of Chardonay as a welcome present. So excited. It feels surreal. Looking forward to explore the local parks and the huge public pool.
