Getting a little bummed out... Am I crazy

Ok so I'm almost 21 weeks now and we know we are having 2 boys and have chosen their names.I am feeling them move and kick like crazy. I find myself lately a little bummed that I don't know which baby is doing the kicking, and I feel funny talking to them bc I don't know to which child I am referring. I feel like a crazy person, but I just want I call them by their given names. I just feel like I can't bond with this pregnancy. Yup this sounds ridiculous.

Re: Getting a little bummed out... Am I crazy

  • It's not ridiculous! My girls have been moving like crazy lately and now someone is smack in the middle and I can't tell for sure who it is lol. I just rub them and call them "baby girl" to cover my basis.

I also remind myself that we're pretty lucky that we get so many u/s because then we get to see how they're positioned and that helps a lot. My singleton pregnant friends only get a couple and have a hard time knowing what's head and rump.

  • As they get bigger, they will become more situated in certain spots and you'll be able to tell them apart better. At least that's how it has been for me. With all the ultrasounds you will get a good idea of their positioning. :)
  • I never knew who was kicking, just who's butt was in my ribs.  None of mine have ever been super active (singleton and then twins).  I was pregnant as a surrogate and that baby moved more than all 3 of mine combined.

  • Thanks y'all I appreciate not feeling alone! Great to have ppl to relate to!
  • I posted something similar a couple of weeks ago because I couldn't tell who was moving.  Now that I'm a little bit further along I feel a little bit more confident in my ability to guess which baby is moving.  Ask questions during your ultrasounds too, I'll point to a spot that I feel a lot of movement and will ask her who's situated near it.  Of course it can change but like PPs have said as they get bigger it gets a little bit easier.

Not to be the lone contrarian. But I'm 33 weeks and still have trouble figuring this out sometimes. It's never prevented me from bonding with them. I just picture them in there nudging each other for space and saying, "move over!" I think it's kinda cute. :)

But I will say earlier on it was really hard to tell. Hang in there and I agree with pp, the ultrasounds might be a good way to decipher.
