Anyone do this? There's a bunch of talk about it on my local Facebook breastfeeding group, but I also wanted to see if any of you did it, or are thinking of doing it next time around.
I thought about doing it. When I spoke to my OBGYN about it she said it isn't recommended. The consumption of the placenta isn't really the issue, it's the fact that there aren't any regulations for the encapsulation process. She said that once they have your placenta there isn't really any way to know if they used sanitary methods of encapsulation or if there is quality control to ensure no mix ups etc.
I hadn't really thought of it from that point of view, so H and I decided against it. I was disappointed, I thought it could've helped with ppd... Ah well.

I guess I never really thought of it that way. She makes a good point.
The whole thing got started on fb because a mom who just had a baby decided to do raw placenta smoothies and she raved about how amazing it made her feel, helped with energy, milk, etc. I don't know if I could do it raw, but I could take a pill. But I guess I never really thought of a sanitation issue.
I'm with @Revez. I really considered it. I thought it would help with milk and potential PPD, but I found out someone who I don't hold in particularly high regard was certified to do it, and realized it must not be very regulated. Even my very crunch LC was like, "Ummm... No."
I'm done with babies, but I bet I would have contemplated doing it again if we were considering a third - which we aren't.
I did it and I would absolutely do it again. I still have some in my freezer to help with pms. Only my husband knows I did it. I didn't even tell my mom or closest friends.

I did it. I have no problem with it. Although, I don't know if it affected anything. My mood was better post-birth this time, but my circumstances were better, too (finances, living arrangements, my relationship, etc), so I don't know which had the greater influence on my mood.
The only way I even knew what this was is because Kailyn on Teen Mom 2 asked her doctor about it because she wanted to do it. Is that pathetic of me lol?!
I thought about it and decided against it. I'm pretty crunchy, but consuming myself had me on the fence. DH was not for it either. Next time if money isn't an issue I think I will do it. Anything to help with mood/ppd is a plus IMO.
I did it. I felt amazing pp. So much better than with my first, but can't say for sure it was the pills. My energy was amazing and I didn't have the sweats at all. I'd do it again.
I was totally against it the first time but am considering it next time if there's even a hope I won't have such bad PPD.

No sweats, you say? That settles it, I'm sold for placenta pills with #2.
There are a few people in my MOMS club that did it and swear it helped them. I dont think its for me...but maybe find some people in your area that have done it to get some recommendations for practioners of that service?

I honestly think it made a huge difference. On the days I forgot to take it, my energy level was way down.
