Ligament/muscle pain?

I've noticed today that in 1 spot, I'm having sharp pain that usually happens when the baby moves. It is right where his butt usually is and where I'm the most lumpy. It also hurts in that spot if I push on it. I had an appointment today with my midwife and mentioned it and she said it was probably my muscles. I have noticed it a lot more since the appointment and had I known it would stick around, would have explained it to her better. I kind of mentioned it in passing. It is above my belly button and over to the right. I know my placenta is posterior so I doubt it could be anything wrong with that. I'm wondering if anyone else has this and is it ligament pain? Almost feels like I'm bruised. I'm not too worried because he is moving a lot and I just had an appointment but this is new to me.

Re: Ligament/muscle pain?

  • I have noticed that when I wake up during the night to turn over to get more comfortable parts of my stomach feel sore. I haven't mentioned it to my OB but it goes away and baby is still moving around in there so I think it's probably just pressure from baby being cramped.

  • I have tender pain that feels like a giant bruise although its way over to my side. It sounds like mine is a different place than yours but I found out that mine is my kidney. Baby girl is blocking them from draining into my bladder properly so that's why they hurt. They hurt a LOT more when I'm dehydrated. It could be that? Mine hurts a LOT when she pushes on it or I lay on my left side when it's worse. Could be what she said but it could be something else. See if drinking more helps. Just a thought. Good luck...

I actually have severe Hydronephrosis as well in both my kidneys. I also get flank (kidney) pain in my back but this is definitely different. I get flank pain in my back and this pain is very superficial in the front of my abdomen. Isn't pregnancy wonderful?

That's what I have. Kidney appointment tomorrow. The back (kidney) pain started this weekend and OH MY GOD! it's terrible. I've had achy back pain before but never thought it would feel like that!! So yeah, in my back and on my side too. Awesome sauce.

It's common for babies to bump bones, muscles, ligaments, etc. from the inside. They can even cause minor injuries.

My LO has made a bruise on the inside of my left hip bone and likes to roll her foot across my right-side round ligament. The latter feels like someone strumming an electrified rubber band. Good times.

Ya it was scary when I first found out and there was talk of stents but I'm so glad I didn't go through with it. I get weekly blood work to check my kidney function and so far so good. I had one night of terrible pain that lead to the discovery, but since has been ok just feels like a back ache when baby is positioned higher than normal.
  • I am experiencing this! Feels like a bruise that gets worse when I move. Mine is on my right side under my rib cage. My nurse said that if I over did it my body would react like this. Get lots of rest!
