Trying to Get Pregnant

Can I get some good vibes going? (testing starts tomorrow) **Small Update on Page 3**

Tomorrow the testing begins! ::dramatic music here:: I don't know whether I'm excited or terrified to maybe know things, but the ride's about to start.

A little update on me: It's been 12 weeks today since the BFP that started all of this and 8 weeks tomorrow since the MTX injection. I almost can't believe it's been that long. When I was going to the hospital at first it was sleeting and icing and freezing, and now I break a sweat walking through the parking lot. Weird. My beta last Tuesday was at 22, so I'm really hoping it's less than 5 tomorrow. It would give me a little reprieve from being a pincushion. At least until the next cycle starts. I was thinking yesterday that the next period I get will be my first actual period (not breakthrough bleeding or miscarriage) since December. Total mind-fuck.

Anyway, tomorrow H and I go in, I'll get a beta, and we'll both get the bloodwork to start karyotyping. My doc will be looking to see if there's a chromosomal reason for the repeat losses. We wanted to start it now since it's a lab that has to be sent out, so it can get started. Also, H will be doing his SA tomorrow morning as well. This will be the first time we've been in the Infertility/RE portion of the clinic, so we're both a little nervous. Anyone have any tips to pass on about making the SA easier or more comfortable?

From here, when my next cycle starts (hopefully mid-May, but that's a total shot in the dark) we'll do CD3 and then 7DPO blood work. My doc hasn't decided yet on whether we'll be able to do the HSG that same cycle or whether we'll need to wait for the next one for scheduling purposes (we don't know how long it will be or how the EP is going to affect my cycles). We're on the bench until after we know what the HSG says, right now I'm worried about blockage or scarring.

I want to say thank you all so much. I don't know what I would have done without the ladies of this board during the last 3 months. I could say thank you a million times and it wouldn't begin to convey how much I appreciate the support I see here. So, fingers crossed that tomorrow is smooth sailing!

  • @BBnut I am not looking forward to the amount of blood drawn. I've gotten to where I'm fine for the quick beta one vial test, but this is intimidating. Last week the person who took my blood either used a bigger needle or didn't get it in right and it hurt the whole draw, so I'm hoping that doesn't happen again. The thing with our lab is that it's a total crapshoot as to who you get, so I'm hoping for one of the good ones. I'll make sure H and I drink lots of water.

My doc did thyroid testing back in December and everything was fine. I think if she decides to re-run it she'll do it during the CD3 testing.

Sorry didn't mean to make you nervous, I just wasn't ready for the amount and hadn't had anything to eat or drink yet.
I remember reading that this testing involved many vials, so I appreciate the heads up.  I also normally don't eat before I go (I'm bad at breakfast) and I'll be going straight from there to my hair appointment, so I'll make sure to at least have some juice or something beforehand.

We get the cup from the clinic ahead of time. My H will produce at home. They say we have an hour to get the sample there, we just have to keep it body temperature. They recommended putting it between your legs or in your armpit while driving it there.

I think, if at all possible, you should do that. I think the set-ups at labs for production vary a lot. I know some places might have some "viewing material" but I think at our clinic it is just an examination room with a stack of cups in it, which seems uninspiring.
