Has anyone seen an audiologist?

We have our first one today and I'm nervous for some reason! Will is getting an auditory brain response test and I'm supposed to keep him awake and unfed all morning. I have to drive 45 minutes to the appointment by myself and there is no possible way for me to keep him awake while doing that. I really hope it doesn't screw up the test! Hopefully this kiddo can hear better than he is letting on.

Anyone else going through this process? It seems very interesting!

Oh and if anyone is interested, we have a very eventful week. Today he gets his hearing tested, tomorrow he gets evaluated by his Baby Net provider and we will set up all of his therapy and goals, Wednesday he has another echo and we will discuss moving towards a temporary shunt b/c he keeps turning blue.

On top of it all my other baby is turning 4 tomorrow and we have 2 birthday parties this week. It makes me want to cry seeing her grow up so fast!

No experience w this. My LO was screened at birth and they said she passed that's all I know but just wanted to wish your day goes well and the test goes well.

My toddler went to an audiologist when he was a newborn. I held him in a soundproof booth while the audiologist put little probes in his ears. It took about 30 min. He went because he failed his newborn screenings, but he passed at the audiologist.

Well nevermind anyway. I called his cardiologist about stopping in to get his o2 SATs checked and they said they want to admit him. So audiologist is canceled and I'm packing to spend the night in the hospital. I'm so overwhelmed right now. I can't miss my daughter's birthday.

Yes @pepperedmoth‌ he had one this morning and just generally looks bluer these days. We are all admitted now and he has stayed at 99/100. As much as I want to delay surgery I hope he replicates it for them!

@babylimas- stay strong - you are an amazing mom! My bff is a pediatric audiologist and does those kind of tests all the time. They understand how difficult it can be with a hungry and tired baby! Hoping your hospital stay is short and your audiology appointment goes well when that's rescheduled!

I am an audiologist. They are telling you to keep him awake and unfed just so that he will hopefully sleep during the test - ABRs are very difficult to do with an awake baby and often lead to needing to reschedule. If you ever have other audiology questions let me know!

She is 26 days old! I am amazed at how well she's doing. We are taking her for an echo this week to see what is happening with her heart since she has been stable. She has beaten all the odds so far and we are loving every minute with her!
