HSG... Remind me again

I have my repeat HSG scheduled for this Friday morning... And then DH and I leave for our anniversary trip early Friday afternoon. I remember the discomfort of the procedure... but remind me again how it feels afterwards. My last one was spring 2011. Im so used to just making my doctor appointments and not really thinking about everything else going on in life. I cant(dont want to) avoid BD'ng this weekend. 

Did the pain last longer than the procedure?
Did the iodine leak?
Are you allowed to have intercourse afterwards? 
Did you bleed afterwards?

Should I just postpone it until after we get back to be on the safe side?

    Everyone is different. Mine was just uncomfortable, AF type cramps. Leakage. Good luck!

    Cycling: 
    March 2014- 75iu follistim + trigger + progesterone + IUI = BFN and OHSS
    (8 million post wash 47% motility, 18mm/17mm/16mm/16mm/14mm follies)
    April/May 2014- Benched due to cysts/enlarged ovaries
    June 2014- 50iu follistim + trigger + progesterone + IUI = BFP!!
    (10 million post wash 60% motility, 20mm/19mm follies)
    Beta 1- 85 Beta 2- 2,752 - EDD 2/27/2015

    I had no pain during or afterwards.

    I leaked iodine the whole day and spotted for about another 2-3 days.

    I thought they said sex was fine afterwards just not before for something like a week.
    Fucking bump!!!!

    I'm jealous of you no pain ladies... I think it was the worst procedure I've had to endure, but my tubes were completely blocked and jacked up so I guess that added to the discomfort. And the tech had the hardest time getting my cervix in place. Ugh not looking forward to that again. I think I may just postpone to be safe.

    It was painful for me when the die was going through and I felt major cramping, but I was in and out in 15 minutes. Once it was over, I didn't really feel cramping afterwards and could drive home.

    I wouldn't postpone either. Have a great anniversary trip!!!

    The procedure itself was pretty quick and painless for me.  I took ibuprofen about an hour before hand which I'm sure helped, but overall I thought the HSG wasn't bad, and I had no discomfort afterwards.  Some of the dye did leak out right after, but I did not bleed at all.  My RE did say no sex for 48 hours after the procedure though.

    It's so hard to know how you'll feel afterwards. I would delay the HSG if you can. If you don't have any blockages, you may be fine, but in the event you do, the pain may linger. I had a partial blockage and had quite a bit of pain. I definitely wouldn't have felt like traveling or been able to really enjoy my DH!

    The procedure itself was quick and easy for me.  I wasn't in any pain afterwards.  I didn't spot either.  I forget what they said about sex afterwards though.

    Aug 2013 - SA: Counts & Motility = great, Morph = 1%; RE didn't seem too concerned

    Me: 26
    Jan. 2014 - Blood work ordered by obgyn:  Prolactin = high & AMH = low (0.73)
    Feb. 6, 2014 - Repeat blood work ordered by obgyn:  Prolactin = normal & AMH = low (0.9)
    Feb.  20, 2014 - First appointment with RE
    Feb. 24, 2014 - HSG scheduled;  DX:  one tube definitely open & one tube could be blocked
    Mar. 7, 2014 - CD 21 Blood work for Progesterone; DX:  Progesterone level at 5.2; shows I ovulated but was low
    Mar. 28, 2014 - Laparoscopy; DX:  Tubes open.  Found some endometriosis and had that removed.
     
    History:
    Started TTC:  June 2012
    June 2012 - March 2013:  When it Happens/it happens method = BFN
    March 2013:  Started using Fertility Friend
    Cycles 1 - 15 with Fertility Friend = BFN
    Cycle 16 - Benched due to Laparoscopy
    Cycle 17 - Natural Cycle = BFN
    Cycle 18 - Natural Cycle = BFN
    Cycle 19 - Natural Cycle = BFN
     

    Current Cycle:
    Cycle 20 = Natural Cycle

    I didn't read all the posts...if you had discomfort before...I'd probably postpone to be safe as well.  Good luck! :)

    @jaztaz1 I had the same problem, they actually had to clamp my cervix in place, and then they couldn't get the catheter in and had to manually dialate me, it was awful. I was extremely sore/achy/crampy, but that could be because my tubes were blocked.

    Did the pain last longer than the procedure?
    I was a little sore afterwards, but I was able to practice without any problems that night. I would say I was moderately uncomfortable during the procedure, but just at my cervix. I didn't feel anything in my tubes when the dye was pushed through.

    Did the iodine leak?
    I wore a panty liner and that seemed to be enough. I had to change it a little bit after I got home.

    Are you allowed to have intercourse afterwards? 
    My doctor didn't say anything about it. I think we did the next night.

    Did you bleed afterwards?
    Nope. I didn't have any bleeding.

    All this being said, I had ovulated the day before the procedure (a good 3-4 days early!). Which is definitely not ideal, but I'm guessing it probably made it easier.

    Married 2010, together since 2006. TTC for #1 since March 2012, actively charting since November 2013
    March 2014 - HSG left tube blocked, right tube partially blocked bilaterial partial obstruction; onward to the RE in April
    May 1, 2014 - Lap surgery and chromopertubation; Dr removed a bit of endo, but everything looks healthy & tubes are clear!
    May 2014- First medicated cycle, 2.5mg femara+TI; BFN
    June 2014- 2.5mg femara + hCG + IUI     on 6/18= BFP on 6/28!; C/P on 7/3
    July 2014- 2.5mg femara + IUI #2 on 7/18. Starting progesterone 7/23, bfn
    August 2014- 2.5mg femara + hCG + IUI # 3 on 8/15. BFN
    Tx break
    IVF #1 -
    12/1 - TOT & SIS- RE found a polyp
    12/15 - Hysterscopic surgery to remove the polyp; additional polyps found and removed
    12/29- Good baseline u/s, 12 antral follies
    12/30- Started stimming
    1/10 - ER: 17 retrieved, 14 fertilized!

    ETA: Siggy warning. This is an afterthought because I forgot. Not used to posting these on TTGP. I apologize.













    No pain after the procedure for me. I think I leaked a bit. And I def spotted for days afterwards. I remember there was no sex for a couple days after. But I can't remember for how long. I mean, not that long because we did have sex during my FW a few days later. Maybe I was no sex for like two days.


     

    bfp 1 - m/c 1.31.11 @ 10 weeks

    bfp 2 - baby born via c-section on 5.4.12 @ 37 weeks

    bfp 3 - blighted ovum/d&c on 4.13.13 @ 8 weeks

    bfp 4 - 3rd IUI, very late BFN with super low P, c/p

    bfp 5 - natural bfp while on lupron, baby born via RCS on 4.27.15 @ 39 weeks

    bfp 6 - surprise! baby born via RCS on 11.13.16 @ 38 weeks
