Good Morning Pregnant Peeps & Partners!

Here is our current EDD roster for this check-in:

If you have a recent BFP, and you would like to be added to this list, please just let me know your EDD and other info if available! Thanks :)

So how is everyone doing/feeling? How is pregnancy treating you and/or your partner this week? Any updates to share?

QOTW: What are three things that will absolutely without a doubt be in your hospital bag? If you are planning a home birth, what are the comfort items you plan to surround yourself with? If you are newly pregnant and haven’t given this topic too much thought yet, tell us about something that gave you comfort during your TTC process?

Re: Pregnancy Check-in!

  • Good morning everyone!!!

38w 6d - I'm really hoping this is my last (or 2nd to last) check in. But as of my last midwife appointment on Thursday baby was still pretty snug. My cervix was still tucked to the back in "protective mode" and only 20% effaced, maybe 1 cm (cervical position didn't really allow us to confirm). Anyway I know all that can change in an instant but Kaden was the same and took some natural encouragement (Acupuncture, homeopathics, evening primrose oil, and stripping my membranes 2x, etc.) be born 6 days late. So my hope for an early birth may not happen. I'm okay with Owen staying put for as long as he needs (before 42 weeks). But I'll admit I'm impatient with wanting to meet him. Tonight I have an Acupuncture appointment and I'll have two Chiropractic appointments this week, and a meeting with our midwives tomorrow. Hopefully something will get this party started ;-).

Pregnancy is getting tiring - literally. I
am exhausted all the time, I try to nap and go to bed early when I can, which I feel bad about because I should be getting ahead on my Capstone project. I just can't seem to chose much over a nap these days.

We had a great childbirth class this weekend. It was really nice to briefly review the stages of labor, and talk about the potential differences between the first and second birth. I also got to express some hopes, fears etc. especially for after the birth that I didn't know I had. For example I was/am concerned about teaching Kaden bad habits by giving into quick fixes when juggling the two kids simultaneously.

QOTD: Aside from the big stuff like our birth tub and supplies, I'd say my essentials are: san pellegrino aranciata's for after the birth - I just love drinking them cold and will allow myself sugary drinks for after the birth. Cameras/iPhone for pictures and I have a comfy loose sundress I thought I might labor in.

  • Congrats to @pinkspark on graduating to parenting check-in!

We are 12w5d with twins, EDD in October. It is shocking to me that we are almost 13 weeks already.

I will let M check in about how she's feeling. But I will say that her belly is growing! Uterus seems now to be very much over the pelvic bone and it is showing. :)

We are working on trying to get stuff around the apartment ready bit by bit. We're getting rid of stuff to make room and to hopefully feel less like our lives are in chaos.

Yesterday we were at @Manada's mom's place for dinner and she was saying that she and M's sister had started talking about throwing us a family baby shower. M's sister will be gone for most of July and the majority of August so they were thinking of doing it Aug 30 or 31. M will be 31.5 weeks by then. This is pretty reasonable shower timing for a singleton pregnancy. From everything we've heard, though, anything after 28 weeks is not ideal for a twin pregnancy. In addition to the risk of missing the shower due to bed rest or birth, there is likelihood that M will be too uncomfortable by then to do much of anything. M's mom was receptive to this and she ended up proposing June 28 or 29. We are much happier with this proposal. :) And we're thrilled that they want to throw us a shower.

QOTW: Cell phone charger, snacks for M and me, and ?. I guess I need to do more reading about hospital bags. :)

  • Good morning and happy Monday (?). I'm 28w1d, EDD 7/13/14.

Still feeling pretty good, but definitely getting more tired. Mr. Baby is a mad man -- he is in that sweet spot where he is strong enough to cause a lot of commotion but still small enough to have plenty of room to move. My wife finally got to see and feel him move on Saturday morning. And then on Sunday he kicked me so hard I could see my belly move through my clothes. Crazy! My in-laws came up for Easter and brought two hand-me-down strollers and a tricycle from my SIL (obviously the tricycle won't get immediate use, but SIL is moving and was cleaning out her house). Kind of surreal to see them in my living room. The trike is a retro red Radio Flyer with tassles and it is AWESOME!

My task for the week is to pick/contact an attorney for second-parent adoption and wills. I feel like we're behind on this and should probably initiate something now, especially since we have a stay-cation starting next week that gives us ample opportunity to meet with an attorney.

QOTW: Well I am not early in my pregnancy but I still haven't really thought about this! :) My wife bought me a great camera for Christmas and all I know is that is coming for newborn photo ops.
    Married my wife 8/2007 ~ TTC #1 since 7/2011
    9 IUIs = 9 BFNs
IVF October 2012: 22 eggs retrieved, 17 fertilized, 5 frozen

    FET #2: 1 blast transferred 10/25; BFP 10/31!

Good Morning!! Boy am I glad to be back home. 4 days in Vegas can be really exhausting sometimes.

Today I am 6w5d and I too have an ultrasound tomorrow morning. Since we didn't see a heartbeat last Monday, I am really nervous about seeing one this week. Time is flying by so quickly...Wednesday my little pea will be a blueberry already!

QOTW: Since we are so early on, we definitely haven't thought of what will be in our hospital bag yet. One thing that gave us comfort was that we knew whether or not we were able to get pregnant, we knew we had eachother and that we will be happy in our lives regardless of which way the TTC process went. We only told ourselves that we would try a total of 6 times. Since this is all out of pocket for us, that would be close to $20-25k for just those 6 months, plus I am not getting any younger :) Friends and family that knew we were TTC would ask sometimes what we would do if we couldn't get pregnant and we would laugh and say, we would sleep in on weekends and take more vacations...probably couldn't be more true!

    34 weeks tomorrow!

Feeling kind of crappy today. We went to my in-laws' for Easter dinner last night and got stuck in mega traffic in both directions, resulting in about 4 hours in the car total. My back and hips were hurting immediately post car rides and I had a heck of a time sleeping last night due to hip pain. I have also been having a bunch of Braxton Hicks post car ride which feel like period cramps mixed with a super hard belly.

Baby girl was moving and grooving this AM and part of her (don't ask me what part) was pushing hard right up under my ribs on the right side. It was uncomfy. Maybe she was trying to turn?!?!

Highlights for this week include meeting our possible pediatrician tomorrow night, OB appointment on Wednesday, and our baby shower on Saturday!

QOTW: I bought a light weight, comfy black bathrobe for the hospital, which is already in my partially packed hospital bag. I thought I would definitely want something of my own to wear when walking the halls in labor and/or greeting visitors post birth. I am also on the hunt for comfy but supportive nursing bras to add to my bag. Being in clothing that makes me feel covered and somewhat comfortable will be a comfort to me pre and post baby in the hospital, I think. Other than that, my pillow! I bought a bright red pillow case this weekend to put on my pillow to take to the hospital (recommended by our birthing class instructor so no one mistakes it for a hospital pillow by accident).

  • @firstcomeslove2013‌ I'm excited to read the results of your ultrasound tomorrow!

@healz413‌ that's awesome that @Manada‌'a mom moved the shower to earlier! Our shower is going to be at 26.5 weeks. I feel like they its so early but honestly by 30 weeks I'd like to be parked on the couch full time.

So I am 22w5d today with twins and I woke up this morning with the alarm thinking just 6 or 7 more weeks of Mondays till maternity leave, thank goodness. K and I majorly got our nest on this past week. We were both off work (teachers, spring break) and spent some time in San Diego and otherwise cleared out all clutter in every closet, drawer, and hiding area in our house. We sold the bed and old dresser in what will be the nursery and picked up the new dresser (which will also serve as the changing table), assembled it with the help of my sister (the ikea hemnes- quite a beast but nice for ikea) and the rug we ordered was also delivered. So it's early but we totally have ourselves a nursery. We had to do this now because I anticipate a serious loss of mobility by the time maternity leave rolls around and we have free time again. I already feel Giant! The woman we sold the dresser to said I looked about 8 months along. And our weekends tend to be packed since K is doing grad school stuff.

QOTD: comfy clothes/pjs, phone/camera and charger, and nursing bra.

    A & K, married 7/1/13.

After 10 months of ttc via medicated IUIs and two early losses, we finally got our boys- Perfect premie twins born 5/27/14.

  • What @healz413 said!

Yeah, so my belly "popped" over the weekend, and there is now a distinct invisible "shelf" it appears to be sitting on above my pubic bone.   Honestly though, I feel like that helped a bit because I don't feel like my ute is as "squished" in there when I sit down - for awhile there it felt like a softball was getting squeezed!  It just sort of hangs out for all to see now.

I'm feeling okay.   Less tired for sure, though I also have less overall energy to do things.   My asthma isn't really under control lately since I was sick so I've been pretty winded lately.   I'm working on building up my iron stores and getting well though.  Mostly though, I think I am leaving behind the 1st tri fatigue and nausea.  I still need to eat frequently, and smells make me gag, but I am more into 2nd tri symptoms now (heartburn and insomnia) than before.

We have been given so many baby clothes from our friend who swears she's done having little ones, so we were folding and sorting them on Friday.  We are totally good for clothes, even though I know more will come in the form of hand-me-downs and gifts and cute things we buy!   H. and I are really going to have to curb our enthusiasm with those because the more we have the messier our house is.

We are also clearing out our house of furniture and things to make room for the babies.  I am selling my beautiful road bike this week, which makes me sad because I love it, but I just don't do that serious biking anymore...   I am going to put the money toward buying a more practical bike for me though, one that can hold a baby seat!

QOTW:    I haven't thought about this really!   I guess we will probably be in the hospital about 2-3 days, if the babies are term, and depending on the birth.   hmm, off the top of my head:  phone, charger, water bottle, candy and snacks, some iced-tea singles, comfy clothes, shower shoes, a poof sponge, kindle, my pillow....   I forsee a decent list that H. will go home with to bring me!

    It's so true!

It feels early to do a shower in June for other people I know - we will be about 22 weeks then, but with my sister skipping the country for two months, it was really the only weekend we could find that worked that wasn't in early September!     I can't forsee that I'll be willing to do much myself after 30 weeks.  I am guessing that I will still probably be working a bit into the month, but otherwise I can't see the weekends involving anything but sitting in our apartment's pool and napping.   It's also totally possible that the babies will come in the middle of September at like 34w so I felt super uncomfortable leaving a shower until that late.

We also have a hemnes dresser from Ikea.   Healy hates it, and it's a beast for sure, but I like it for it's height and the deep drawers.   A word of advice though -  get some wood glue or something and put it in the holes that join up with the dowels and the locking screws.   They WILL come loose over time and it's hard to keep them together.  It's the only flaw with that piece is that it will come apart at those joints or the drawer fronts if you don't reinforce them with something.

  • Hi all, happy Monday!

    28w3d over here.

Apparently 28 weeks is when most women with placenta previa start bleeding. I've been super paranoid, but am happy to report no bleeding yet. J and I both got hit with an awful cold this last week. I never get sick, so I am really unhappy about it and I wish when people were sick they wouldn't come to work. I feel like I might be on the mend now though. I wonder what baby thinks of all my coughing. Our next ultrasound to check on the previa is in about a month so not much will be happening between now and then.

I have no idea if I'm having braxton hicks or not, but sometimes my belly gets super hard and it's like there are two balls in my belly. Everything I've read says your belly feels like a ball, not two. Has anyone else felt two? Maybe Bubbles is just in a really weird position. I'm going to ask our midwife about it at the next appointment. He sure moves around a lot though. I swear last night I could feel either fingers or toes run along my uterus, so weird!

On the topic of showers, we aren't having ours until we are 34 weeks. It doesn't seem too late, but with the risk of complications I'm a little worried we won't make it. It was just the only weekend that would work unfortunately. I can't decide if we should buy stuff or wait until the shower. So many decisions.

QOTW: I honestly haven't given this much thought, but I probably should. Kindle or something to play music that I like for sure, comfy clothes and snacks. I'll have to think some more about this over the next few weeks. For a homebirth, I just want to be at home. I don't think we will have anything special to surround ourselves with. Good music, good food, our own stuff.

  • I will be 21 weeks tomorrow.  I feel like we have so much to prepare for, but have nothing done.  I know it will all come together, the most important thing is finding a place to move at the end of June.  Not much has changed as far as the pregnancy goes.  I am having a lot of pain on the right side in my  lower back.  Its the same spot and a sharp pain most of the time, especially when walking, standing up or sitting down.  So yeah, most of the time.  It gets worse when I put weight on my right leg and my leg almost gives out.  My wife tried giving me a massage last night and its worse today, I am not sure what to do now besides just deal with it.

QOTD: We have not planned what to pack in the hospital bag yet.  I know I will want comfortable clothes, cell phone chargers and camera for sure!

I will be 21 weeks tomorrow.

This sounds like the sciatic pain I had with Kaden. I think Acupuncture or Chiropractic can help (but ask your OB/midwife).  Hope you feel better soon! :-)

@Flygirl1228‌ I'm sorry to hear you got so sick!! I'm glad you're starting to feel better. 24 weeks is a great time for the shower too! Like you, I want to see what we get which tells me what we have to buy ourselves. I have this feeling most people will not buy off the registry and will instead get us clothes. Which we already have tons of. Oh well.

@Manada‌ thanks for the suggestion about the hemnes! We will dig out the wood glue and make sure it's solidly together.

@rkbo‌ I hope your ultrasound goes well tomorrow and you see a strong heartbeat!

  • As @firstcomeslove2013‌ said, our ultrasound is tomorrow and I am terrified. Obviously, after an early miscarriage, we have a bit of ultrasound shell-shock. I am just trying to be calm and remind myself that it is what it is, no matter what.

For the most part I feel pretty crappy. And I am really excited about it.... Seriously... No sarcasm. I have never been so happy to be repulsed by the thought of so many of my favorite foods.

Send us peaceful vibes for tomorrow... We really need them...

I am currently 16wks5days. We are doing well.  Have had some serious issues with eating and feeling nauseous.  Gotten bad enough where I am gagging.  Other than that, just the exhaustion that is non-stop.  My mom and dad are going to our check up this week so they can see their grandbabies on the u/s and that is exciting for all of us.

I will definitely pack my own fuzzy socks, my iPod, and chargers for all electronics. We have not really planned our bag yet so I am sure that many more items will be added!

  • Yesterday we were at @Manada's mom's place for dinner and she was saying that she and M's sister had started talking about throwing us a family baby shower.

For that same reason we are having our showers (apparently we have to have 2 LOL) early as well.  We are 16w5d right now. We are planning shower #1 (which will be local) for June 28th, and shower #2 (which is closer to my family and childhood friends) for July 12th.  I will be 26 Wks for #1 and 28 wks for #2

  • Hi all :)

I've been so absent from the board (I usually check up on you guys far more than I post). It was so nice to see all the good news!

I'll be 13 weeks on Sunday. We spilled the beans already. It was C's birthday so she let it fly! I have a Dr. appointment tomorrow to hear the little one's heartbeat :). I'll also get to schedule the anatomy scan.

I feel like I live in the bathroom. I seriously have to pee every hour or two. Even at night. Supposedly that is supposed to ease up a little (until 3rd tri)  soon and I'm looking forward to it.

QOTW: So far I know we will have phone chargers, our ipad, some puzzle books (love a crossword!) and some comfy clothes for after baby. As far as essentials go, I plan to use a list I found on a blog that showed things she used vs. things she packed and didn't need. I like the idea of everyone getting their own bag- baby, mom, and mom.
