This is a weekly thread for runners who are due June 2014, that is posted on Mondays. All who run--or who want to start running--are welcome, regardless of mileage, pace, ability, size, shape, or terrestrial status. This is a place to talk about running while pregnant, training, runs, races, gear, recovery, nutrition, and whatever else we can think of.

Anyone who posts here regularly should feel free to start the thread on Mondays if it seems to be missing.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

How were your runs this week? Lay it on us...

Is anyone watching the Boston Marathon today??!

What is your favorite place to run? Indoors/outdoors? Treadmill, road, trail, beach, etc.?

Re: ~* Born to Run June Bugs Check-In *~

  • I only got one run in last week, a 6-miler on Saturday. It was a great run, though, and I got to make a new friend in my running group so that was nice. :)

I have a lot of free time after work this week so no excuses for me not to get all my runs in. My SIL and I already have a run date planned for Friday and I am leading a group run on Saturday morning so that's two right there - I'd like to squeeze 2-3 more in, plus yoga.

My favorite place to run is on trails. Nothing makes me happier than being on a secluded trail, surrounded by trees and nature. My favorite spot around here is a gravel path that runs all along the Delaware Canal, and it's water on one side and trees on the other and just beautiful. I can't wait to take LO out there in the BOB because it's perfectly flat the entire way and will be great for stroller running!

  • I went on a 1.25mi power walk with the family. Hoping to pack on the miles after I get past 34 weeks. I feel safer pushing myself and dealing with contractions knowing I'm over the major preterm humps by that point.

I love running outside. I get so bored on a treadmill now. I've never run on the beach but I've heard it is hard! I like the road or a smoothed out trail run.
  • Morning!  Had a good week with 4 workouts of 45-50 min each.  Hope to get the same in this week plus some strength as well.  Oh and maybe some stretching too!

We have a paved path in my area that is about 40 miles long with mile markers and I love to run on that - it's nice to see other people out and it has water fountains and places where you can buy drinks along the way.  I love to run on the beach as well, but only for short runs because it's hard and kills my calves!

They haven't shown the women yet, but Meb and Ryan Hall are leading the men. The first mile was in 4:49! Crazy.

    ETA forgot to tag @Kinipela7

  • How were my runs:  Not bad, I ran twice inside, and once out for about 7.5 miles total. Also a walk on Wednesday. My run Friday was cut short by the overwhelming urge to go #2, and with it being late already my husband had already finished by the time I got back, so I said 2 miles was enough!!  I also did yoga twice on my lunch break and tried a beginner Tai Chi during lunch one day!

This week looking forward to getting 3-4 Runs in this week 2-3 miles each.  Also doing yoga today during lunch and maybe tai chi on Friday.

My favorite place to run is anywhere outside when the temperature is like 60 degrees... Otherwise I like the track in my gym, which is much easier on my knees!!

I have the marathon streaming right now.  My good friend from college is running today and I'm signed up for text alerts on her.  She freakin rocks!! Her first marathon she didn't really train properly and was like 2-4 minutes off from qualifying for Boston last year, so she trained properly and qualified with no issues!

hey runners!  i actually didnt get in a run this week but worked out quite a bit.  was able to go to yoga three times and bootcamp/lifting three times too.  still feel really good so hoping to squeeze in a run or two this week.  luckily we run during bootcamp but it is very different than running on my own.

i grew up in boston so this day means a lot to me!  the marathon ran by my house and every year my family would stand outside and cheer.  i will absolutely be following along from so cal and my heart is definitely in boston today :)
What is your favorite place to run? Indoors/outdoors? Treadmill, road, trail, beach, etc.? my favorite place to run is on the boardwalk by the beach.  not only is it outdoors and beautiful but it is really flat :)

  • Nice job, running mamas! I

    1. I am lucky to walk a mile at this point. After a half-mile walk, there's so much pressure on my bladder that it becomes painful. And my back hurts. Even with the support band. So walking it is!

    2. Not watching, but my husband just texted me that one of the leading male runners has a heart rate of 175 bpm, which is practically mine walking ~lol

    3.  I prefer to be outdoors. Especially in a new place with new things to see. Keeps me interested. I'm looking forward to hiking again with baby.
