3rd time mom here but still haven't figured out this breast feeding thing. My baby is 2 weeks old today and for the past 10 days she has literally been on my breast like 20 hours out of the day. Aside from a few 3 hour sleep sessions, things usually look like this: she eats, falls asleep/suckles, delatches, wakes herself up within 20 minutes and starts rooting again. Rinse and repeat. Any time she is awake, she is crying and rooting. If I remove her while suckling, she wakes up and wants to actively nurse again. I feel like she is never full and never happy/content.

Re: constantly feeding?
Try more ways to keep her alert. Things to try: blow on face gently, undress, change diaper, tickle feet, listen to non-soothing music, walk around (if your talented), talk in a loudish voice.
Make sure you offer both sides at a feeding even if she's asleep. It may give you more time in between.
Good luck!
