Milk supply varies?

So I've struggled to pump 3.5-4.0 oz every 3 hrs.. A couple days ago I was suddenly pumping 5- 5.5 oz consistently each session. Suddenly yesterday back to the 3.5. Which means I have to let lo nurse after her bottle.. Which has always been painful... Even when latched well... Has this happened to anyone else? I've been drinking tons of water, oatmeal, fenugreek, and granola bars.. I don't get it... I thought I was in the clear..

Mine goes up and down depending on how tired I am. We had a couple bad days in a row last week where nothing changed except I had only had a few hours of sleep, and my supply tanked. I then slept 6 hours in a row (with the help of pumped bottles), and it came right back.

Good plan! I know I was excited the other day when I suddenly started pumping enough at each session knowing our supply evens out a bit around six weeks so I'm panicking that it dipped again! Ugh so frustrating..

As someone who EPed for almost a year with my daughter, the best thing you can do for your supply is nurse occasionally. My supply gradually dropped from day 1 of pumping, and although water and Fenugreek helped, the few times she was willing to nurse made a drastic difference in how much I got at each session. I don't think I could have done it if it always hurt, though.

If it hurts to nurse, you can try a nipple shield. My LO latches great, but on one side it is still painful (even when latched correctly). So I use a nipple shield sometimes when I can't take the pain.
