3rd Trimester

Fertilaid

I have read a zillion FertilAid reviews but haven't come across a single one that can relate to my story and am looking for advice.

My husband and I have been TTC for 6 months and I wanted to do something to help my irregular cycles. My cycles lasted 24-37 days after coming off of BC for 10 years and were not regulating but mostly 30+ days. I was ovulating each time, confirmed by OPKs. This is my first month on FertilAid and I ovulated CD 12, which was the earliest ever, but I figured that made sense if FertilAid was lengthening my LP and shortening AF to 28 day cycles.

I'm now on CD39 with no period and am worried if I keep taking it, it will only be longer until I get my period. I called the company and they were not helpful at all. They just kept repeating "FertilAid can take up to 3 months for the herbs to assimilate and balance your hormones". They didn't acknowledge that it can sometimes lengthen periods, which when you so badly want a baby, is a very big deal.

Bottom line, I'm torn with whether or not I should just commit to being on FertilAid for at least another month or if I should just stop taking it altogether and pray my cycle goes back to semi-normal. Anyone else have an experience like this? Thanks for any input!

Re: Fertilaid

  • I never conceived on fertile aid. It was a waste for me. Go to your obgyn there's other alternatives. I have PCOS and ovulated with metformin and got pregnant after trying for 4 Years.

  • Don't take herbs or anything else that messes with your hormones without consulting with your doctor first. If your cycles are irregular, it would be much more productive to get a Fertility Friend account, read their tutorials, and start charting/temping that way to gain insight into what your body is doing. OPKs cannot confirm that you did ovulate, by the way, they only tell you that your LH surged and you may ovulate. Temping is the only way to confirm.

I know it's frustrating, my cycles went cycles crazy after coming off birth control too (like 33 - 81 days crazy). It can take a healthy couple up to 1 year so don't freak out yet.

  • OP, listen to @spacepotatoes, she is right. You can only know for sure if you ovulate by temping. I second joining Fertility Friend. It was the best thing I ever did! My first pregnancy it took me a year to conceive. My second pregnancy was just 3 cycles. I did start taking Pregnitude the month that I got pregnant, however I can't say whether it helped or not.

Most likely you didn't O when you think that you did. Start temping/charting and you will feel so much better because you will know what is going on with your body. I not only temped but I also checked CP/CM. I think that CP is a little difficult for some people, it takes practice for sure. However, all three signs combined are extremely accurate in pinpointing O.

    Good luck!
