*Creative Unique* Gift Ideas for My OB and L&D Nurses?

Hi everyone I'm new here and am looking forward to participating! :)

I apologize in advance for the length of my story, but I feel it's worth telling so that you get a feel for what kind of gift would be perfect for her. :)

**Also, I would prefer not to buy any sort of food, candy, or baked goods. Nothing edible please because I want to do something more special and unique than that, especially for my OB** :)

I'm in need of suggestions for thank you gifts for my OB & L&D nurses. My son was born on February 26th but I had a long and tough recovery and am getting around to doing this late. :/ I have an amazing OB who was there to deliver my first child 2 years ago and also delivered our little newbie in February. My OB has gone above and beyond the call of duty during both deliveries. During my delivery with my first child, she was out of town at a Christmas party and left the part to rush back to the hospital to be there to deliver for me. During the birth of our new child, she was not even scheduled to be on-call at the hospital that night and she knew prior to my delivery that I was not comfortable with the doctor who was on call that night so she told me "If I'm not the one on call and you're uncomfortable with the doctor who is, ask them to call me and I WILL be there for you." She kept her word and came down to the hospital close to midnight to deliver our son. Upon her arrival I exclaimed in much relief, "You came!!" to which she replied, "Of course I did. I told you I would!" Keep in mind that she has cancer and had not been doing well and she STILL left home to come down to the hospital late at night to deliver our son. 4 hours after the delivery I had major complications that I almost died from. The nurses had to call my OB to rush back to the hospital at 4:00am after she had just delivered our son just before midnight. She stayed to make sure I was going to be okay and she helped keep me calm as I was very afraid of how my condition was. I really want to give her a gift of appreciation for all that she has done for me. I never gave her a thank you gift or card after the birth of our first child and want this gift be a thank you for everything regarding both deliveries.

As for my L&D nurses I would like to give each of them a token of appreciation (there are about 10 nurses total). They gave me great care both before and after the delivery. They especially went above and beyond during the time of my complications and responded quickly and worked hard for 3 hours to get me stabilized and make sure that I was going to be okay. I can't thank my doctor or nurses enough for all that they did for me.

I am not much of a baker so I wouldn't like to give them cookies but I do make yummy peanut brittle and didn't know if that might be a good thing to give to the nurses? I will give thank you cards for sure but I would like to give little gifts as well.

As for my OB I would like to give her something EXTRA special but I'm at a loss as to what I should give. Please give me suggestions! It would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!

  • gift cards.

Are they allowed to accept gifts or does this fall into the same as teachers and superiors that are not allowed to take gifts?
