Hi all.  I used to be on BOTB a long time ago, but left the bump a couple of years ago.  I'm back because I have a son with Autism (PPD-NOS more specifically) and someone suggested the group here.  So I'd thought I'd come check it out.

So about me.  I am a labor and delivery nurse and mom of three boys.  Matthias will be 7 in two weeks, Ezra is 5 and Titus will be 1 in two weeks.  Matthias was diagnosed with PPD-NOS last fall and we are waiting to start intensive home therapy any week now.  

I'm looking forward to getting to know you all and to offer and receive support.

    He got it privately.  We are in the US.  His psychologist said that they were using DSM-IV criteria until the end of 2013, because the DSM-V was released in May 2013 at the national conference and there were still clarifications being made to codes and such.  Since he started the evaluation process prior to May, they kept did not change the tests they were doing.

    We have been in touch with the school district.  They actually evaluated him before we got his private evaluation.  The school district psychologist would not make a diagnosis, but had told us that she strongly suspected autism and recommended a private evaluation and therapy.  He goes to a private school, and they don't do formal IEPs, but do work a lot to individualize education to the needs of the students.

    What kind of services does your DS get from the school district?  If he qualified for services from the district, they would do them at our school.  At the time of his eval with the school district, they didn't think he qualified for services, but that was before his diagnosis.   Starting April 27, Matthias will be starting home therapy for 20 hours a week.

    He'll be doing ABA therapy.  I want to see how therapy goes before we look at changing his school environment.  I'm planning on asking for a new eval from the school district after we've had a chance for therapy to get going and see how that goes.

    Wow, blast from the past! Hi, Roshy! 

    I'm sorry you have to be here, but there are a lot of moms here with similar relatable situations. I also have a DS on the spectrum. Welcome!
