PR Dentist/Tooth questions Update

edited April 2014 in Parenting
So DD fell this morning and bit her lip. I just checked one of her teeth is now loose. I just put in a call to her dentist on the emergency line and waiting to hear back. Any experiences with this? What should we expect?

  • The biggest thing they will want to do is check to make sure there is no damage to the adult tooth underneath the baby tooth (usually by xray)  If there's nothing wrong there they will likely say "let it run it's course"  Meaning if it falls out early, no big deal, or it may tighten up again on it's own (depending on just how loose it is)

    Good luck!

  • We ate going in for X rays on Monday to just double check. She is on a softer food diet for awhile as well. The only thing is her leukemia makes everything more complicated. It may not heal as quickly and she is at a higher risk of infection. Plus Reese isn't allowed to take motrin at all anymore. Poor kid can't get a break.

  • Oh dear, poor Reese (and you). I hope it turns out not to be a big deal.

  • Thanks! We just need to bubble wrap her.

Amazingly, Reese has a stunning amount of grace when she runs/jumps/hops/skips---she NEVER gets hurt.

However all of her injuries are when she just walks. She seriously walks with 2 left feet. I think because when she is in constant motion she doesn't think about the next step--however walking makes her more aware of everything. If that makes sense.

  • I'm sorry I haven't been around.  I have boards May 7, then am defending my Masters thesis on May 21.  After that my schedule should allow some bump time until we move at the end of June.  Did you go in for x-rays?  With Reece's medical issues they may want to extract to be safe to prevent abscess which could be dangerous for her.
