This Procardia....

Let me tell you it works. Here's my issue, it causes my heart to race and my anxiety to go through the room which means the anxiety issues I had before are 10x. Last night I was up every hour. Was going to try and go without it tonight but have had 3 contractions in the last hour and the hour isn't over with yet.

Went to the doctor today she said as long as we can keep them to a minimum we won't have to worry....my target is 36 weeks (4/28). At least the bleeding stopped but I could do without the contractions and worry that I can't take care of my family or go stir crazy from not being able to do anything.....

I even had a freak out tonight cuz I couldn't make dinner.....ugh.

Are you on the fast acting 10mg or the slow release 30?  I found I could tolerate the 30 much easier with fewer side effects.  If you're on the 30, maybe see if you can switch to the 10 and just use them as needed when your contractions get close together?

  • I'm on the 10's....and I am on the as needed, and took the first two doses like she wanted and waited like 8 or 9 hours between the other two doses (like I just took one and my last dose was at 10 am this morning).

Yeah, then I'd ask to switch to the 30s.  They're a much slower release than the 10s and I never noticed side effects with them. The 10s work really quickly, but they're rough on the system.

With the 30s, you take them at specified intervals (anywhere between 1-4 times per day depending on your need) and they sort of maintain your BP and contraction levels instead of causing sudden shifts.

  • I second the extended release. I it will work for you, I had a better experience with it. Mine was for bp though not contractions. Still got a killer headache for about a day or two. But went away. I'm still on 90mg and 12 days pp to manage bp while it stabilizes and no side effects.

  • I had to a top taking it because it was giving me daily migraines. Not a fun medication. Hope the different doses helps if you try it.

I'm also on 30mg, only once a day for high Bp. The only side effect I've experienced is a headache after taking it.. I'd ask to switch if i were you
