Is this amount of crying normal?!

DS has been crying, no more wailing!, 2-3 hours each night around bedtime for the past week. We've tried everything and I'm really having a hard time dealing with it. I took him to the doctor today about it who said he was healthy except his throat was sore and that I should give him infant Tylenol. Of COURSE his throat is sore, he's screaming for 3hours a night!!! Once he DOES get to bed he sleeps through the night. But how the eff can I get him to calm down?!?

Thanks for sharing. We have tried those things but once we put him down in his crib he starts screaming lime crazy. I wonder how to get him to sleep. If we hold him until he sleeps and we put him down he wails also. It seems endless.

My DD does the same exact thing. Also maybe try gas drops??

My DD's cry sometimes go to the most high pitched screech where it sounds like she's in agony (but really it's only when she's super pissed). The first couple times it really scared me that something was wrong. She doesn't go that long but a few times she has gone over an hour.

Sometimes white noise helps... The fan in the bathroom or the vacuum.
L likes it when I rock him or bounce him... Not gentle bouncing but over exaggerated bouncing.
He likes the tv... He cries hysterically for my FIL. When he gets really really upset I suggest the tv... It tends to calm him down.
I'm sorry that can't be easy !!!

My first did this every night until he was 6 months old. He was around 3 months when it started. I figured it was just a "witching hour". No advice really, I just walked him, rocked him, sang, and patted his butt

Is the crib sheet cold and waking him up? We always heat up DD's bassinet before we put her down otherwise it wakes her up.

Also maybe he doesn't feel cozy in the crib like he does in your arms. Take a towel and roll into a long roll. Put it under the sheet in the shape of the letter U. It creates like little nest and makes baby feel secure and cozy. We used to do it when DS was a baby.

DS has recently started doing this too I think he's overtired. I've been trying to get him to take a short nap around 5pm-5:30pm and that seems to help. Otherwise we try gas drops, Gripe Water, bath, walking around the house while holding him. It sucks.

My LO used to do that and now we have her on a really early bedtime - 6:30 or 7pm, as soon as she starts getting fussy. Then I put on her pjs and nurse her and feed her in the dark til she falls asleep. Sometimes they just need a dark quiet place to relax I think. I also use white noise. Good luck, it's exhausting hearing them cry like that

Hadley does this every once in awhile. Oddly enough she's entranced by the kitchen faucet. She will calm right down as soon as she hears it. She doesn't care about any other faucet or running water. It has to be the kitchen. Also, exactly like cash said. Walking, butt patting, knee bouncing. Try different speeds rocking, singing, humming, whistling. HTH! DS would do this when he got over tired. I suggest trying his bedtime two hours after his last nap. Also find a white noise that he likes. I take DS into dark room, rock, white noise, nurse

Anya does this when she is overtired. We have to have her ready for bed no more than an hour after her last nap otherwise she gets CRAZY. Walking and patting and shushing help.
