Re: ~*Pumping Check-in*~

  • 1. Going ok, but it's getting harder to get my pumps in during the week when I'm working, work is getting busy.

    2. I have to make a work trip this week and I have to pump and attempt to save the milk. I'm trying to set my expectations low and tell myself the main thing is to keep pumping, if I can get the milk home that's a bonus but the main thing is to keep up my supply. I have a bit of a freezer stash, hopefully it will be enough to get him through. It's only 2 days.

    3. I plan to start cutting out pumping sessions when he hits 6 months old. Then I hope I can continue to pump just 2 or 3 times a day. That will give me a lot more free time and it will at least give him a little bit of BM every day. And hopefully my cycles will start up again because we want to start TTC again.

  • @ballerina10 yes this is an awesome benefit of BF! I love not having to spend money on formula.

  • 1. How's the pumping going this week? Started out crappy. I pumped 9.4 oz on Monday and usually pump 15-18 during the week. Rough. It got better towards he end of the week though.

    2. Any challenges? We crib transitioned over the weekend and I think the lower pumping amounts are from eating times being all over the place Friday through Tuesday. We are back to regular scheduled programming as far as sleeping and eating goes so all is well. Oh, and my husband keeps wasting frozen milk. We will pull frozen for the next day and then I come home from work and the bottle of frozen is still sitting in the fridge like 36 hours later and smells funny. So sad.

    3. How long do you plan to BF/pump for and why? Ideally a year. Maybe start weaning when he's 11 months if he is ready. We'll see. As much as I'm ready to have my freedom back in terms of really getting serious about the baby weight and the stress of pumping enough, it's not worth the multiple $30 cans of formula I would have to buy every month.

  • 1. How's the pumping going this week?

going alright, a little light on oz this week but still keeping up with lo

    2. Any challenges?

I normally pump 2x during work for 30 min and Monday I got a total of 10 min pumping, Tuesday I pumped once and today I was only able to pump once. Plus I accidentally forgot to put my milk in the fridge one night and had to dump 15oz the next morning :(

    3. How long do you plan to BF/pump for and why?

Last time I pumped for 7 months and had enough stored for 10 1/2. This time I would like to not use any formula (because I am cheap) but I am already running out of freezer space so I might look into donating but I am paranoid that I will need that milk.
  • 1. How's the pumping going this week?

It's going ok thought I was going to have to use formula (nothing against it I'm just cheap) but that day Avery slept most of the day and didn't eat much so I've been lucky

    2. Any challenges?

Only was able to pump once on Monday which is my long day and I thought that my supply was done for but it seemed to come back after I drank more water

    3. How long do you plan to BF/pump for and why?
Would like to do a year but we will see
  • 1. Going well, but happy next week is Spring Break and I'll get a break from pumping.

    2. Getting my pokey first graders to recess on time so that I have enough time to pump.

    3. I will pump/breastfeed until summer vacation, when I will EBF and pump once a day to freeze. By September I'm hoping she will be eating some food and I won't have to pump 3x a day at work. As of now I'm planning to breast feed her as long as she is interested, or until we get pregnant with our next one (perhaps a year from now). I don't think I could handle breastfeeding two.
  • 1. How's the pumping going this week?

I got a record 4 oz last night. This was the day after getting only 1 oz. Annoyingly inconsistent.

    2. Any challenges?

DS fell off his weight gain curve, so we're being referred to a ped to make sure he's just inherited DH's metabolism. I really hope that's the case, obviously, as DS seems satisfied after nursing and I've upped the frequency now that he's STTN. This has me a stressed, as the guilt would be tremendous if this sweet little dude is not getting enough.

    3. How long do you plan to BF/pump for and why?
I would like to do it at least until I go back to work in January. I love the connection with DS and the cost savings!
