S/O Food

Can anyone share any family friendly dinners / recipes? My DH has been working late the past few weeks and I've been making dinner for A and us separately since we all can't eat together. However it's becoming super time consuming cooking 2 meals. She loves pasta and meatballs and that is something we all can eat but I want to get more creative.

What are some of your favorite baby friendly family meals?

  • She eats most everything we do with less seasoning. For instance if we have tacos I put aside the browned ground beef before the seasoning and she has shredded cheese and avocado. If I make stir fry she has the chicken and veggies before we had the soy sauce and stuff. Hamburgers we fry up and extra one and give big sister half and chop the other half up for LO. I serve her whatever we are having on the side like fries, veggies, pasta, rice etc. If it's something to spicy to begin with or not baby friendly, I keep fruit cups on hand, dole has a line now that is fruit in water with no sugar added and I keep a big bag of frozen mixed veggies, the already diced up kind and I'll serve those with some cubed up cheese or some cheerios, etc or whatever side we are having.

  • Also, I keep frozen French toast and waffles on hand and those are an easy go to as well.

  • I give c whatever we are having, I never make separate meals. Chili, chicken tagine, ratatouille, couscous, steak, etc. He'll eat a PB or turkey sandwich if dinner is taking forever and he's hungry.
  • He pretty much eats what we eat...last night for instance I made popcorn chicken salads for us..I still gave him some of the chicken but then to go with his I gave him fruit cut up that we had and some black beans.. I keep cans or frozen veggies on hand to whip up so he can have some veggies too.  Otherwise things like yogurt/applesauce etc as well.  Cut up turkey/cheese works good too.
  • Thanks for the suggestions! I didn't realize how easy it was to separate her food before seasonings etc. I was worried about salt intake , seasoning , and spiciness.

I know some spices and stuff are ok to introduce to baby, but some babies can have reactions in the form of diaper rash or other types of discomfort. I'm definitely not comfortable giving her anything spicy yet, my almost 6 year old still doesn't eat overly spicy things, I think I was in my late teens before I really ate anything outside of salt and pepper. Salt you want to limit for sure, as much as possible, though I've definitely given LO some food that had salt, like rotisserie chicken from the deli, some lunch meat, etc. I just limit it.
