40lbs = what age?

I am researching convertable carseats and noticed a big difference in some of the weight limits between each model. I was thinking about getting the Britax Roundabout which has 40lb weight limit....does anyone know approx what age that would be? TIA!

It really varies a friend of mine has two kids one is 5 and the other is 3. The 3 year old is 43 lbs and the 5 year old is 47.

my 2 1/2 year old is 28 lbs. and i don't see him being 40 lbs. until 5 at least.

Tristan is exactly 36 lbs at nearly 3 (see siggy for exact age).

I can tell you right now, for me, Harmon will bypass the height limitations well before he surpasses the weight limitations. From what I hear this is the norm.

Ditto Francisca. Many, many kids will hit the height limit before the weight limit. My DS is on the small side, but he's just now 40 lbs and he turned 4 in September. I really would urge you to go ahead and get the Marathon or another similar seat that will go up to 65 lbs (which also have higher height limits). They really end up being a much better buy imo. My DS is in a Marathon in my car with room to spare. But now we're having to buy another seat for DH's car. And there are many kids who outgrow it at 2.5, at which point there's no way I'd put them in a booster. I still don't want my DS in a booster. A 5 point harness convertible is still much safer. Sooooo....I would recommend skipping the Roundabout and going for a Marathon or similar.
