Separation Anxiety? Help!

My daughter is 7 months old. I was a stay at home mommy the first 6 months and we were inseparable aside from maybe one night every other weekend. I went back to a part time night shift job about one month ago and my daughter stays with my husband at our house while I'm gone. My husband says that she cries for almost 3 hours after i leave. She is inconsolable. By the time he calms her down she takes a bottle, falls asleep, and then i'm home. I thought it would get better in time but It has been one month with no answers. Please help, we are desperate.

Re: Separation Anxiety? Help!

  • I work 5 pm to midnight. I will suggest getting her on a schedule. I have a day time routine so maybe that's the problem. I'm worried she just doesn't like being alone with him.

Nope- I don't think her issue is being alone with him.  I would do as PP suggested and get her on a schedule and have H make sure she isn't overtired. Also, IMO I think it's important for moms/dads to say a quick goodbye and tell them that you will see them later. At this stage separation anxiety can peak and I think it's important to say goodbye as part of the routine!
  • I think i read that somewhere on here. I will have to remember that when i leave.
