3rd Trimester

New group for pregnant vegans/vegetarians

Sorry to gate-crass your trimester group but i thought there might be some people on here that this might be relevant to:

There doesn't seem to be a group for pregnant vegans or vegetarians really anywhere on the internet or TB so i thought i'd create one.
It is one of the private groups on TB.

Or you can send me a message and i can add you.

Not this will be welcoming space, free of judgement so nobody has to worry if they were vegan or vegetarian and during pregnancy ate some thing that don't fit with their normal diet etc.

Re: New group for pregnant vegans/vegetarians

  • Great! Just sent a request to join. I have been vegan or vegetarian (though I did pescatarian for a while in there) for 19 years with my latest run of vegan being several years long. Since becoming pregnant, I have become a little more lenient having had dairy, eggs, and even salmon a few times. I know I could have done the full vegan thing but frankly found it easier to loosen up just a bit -- particularly because during hte first tri though I was not sick (just exhausted) I started to get really OVER beans, lentils, raw nuts, and got nervous that I was eating way too much tofu. In any event, I plan to return to full vegan once my baby boy is born and plan to raise him vegan though my compromise with my hubs is that I will let him eat stuff at birthday parties, etc, so that he is not some weird social pariah. In any event, happy to meet other herbivore mommas!

  • Oh yay! I don't know anyone personally who has been a vegetarian during pregnancy. I was vegan for the year preceding conception but have added some cheese and eggs back into my diet. I still drink almond milk instead of dairy milk- but I absolutely hate eating meat. The smell of it cooking makes me so sick. Everyone told me when I got pregnant, "oh you'll have a craving for meat, the baby needs the protein" not true at all.
