BD before or after IUI?

Hi for those who are doing IUI, do you BD on your own before or after IUI? and how many days before or after?

So far, we've been BD'ing on our own the day after IUI. But since they are all BFN's, I wonder if we should do something differently this time.

@sngede we do the same thing.
I think it has to with if you have issues with MFI or not. We abstain for 3 days prior to get the best count possible for IUI and 3 days does that for us. If we didn't have issues with sperm, our RE says to have sex the night of the trigger which is 36 hours before our IUI.

We are MFI so we abstain a few days before. However, we BD the day of IUI. Twice. Then nothing since.

We do not have MFI. My RE said not to do BD at least two days before IUI. Then after IUI he said just do it whenever we want, on the same day or the day after. But so far this strategy has not worked for us, so I'm thinking maybe do it once the night of trigger like Lillovegu said. But I am wondering if 36 before IUI is cutting it a bit close, even if DH's sperms are fine......

Pretty much this for us. 3~5 days before, and then RE says night of IUI and morning after if possible, just for the hell of it, but definitely morning after

We got down three days before the IUI and then again the night of the IUI and the next day. Sex the day of the IUI and the day after sucked because it hurt, but I took one for the team. I figured it wouldn't hurt our chances to do it a few more times after the IUI.

We are MFI too.. we BD the night before the trigger or the morning of the trigger. Then the night of the IUI, per doctors orders. The day after the IUI is too late in my opinion! Good luck!

Edit: Our IUI's have always been at 10am.. so we BD that night sometime around 6-9pm.

We do not have MFI either and (to my surprise) my RE suggested having sex around the trigger, so exactly 36 hours before the IUI. I thought that was too close to the IUI, but my husband's numbers were good.

You are fertile about 5 days before you ovulate, and only about 1 day after. Therefore, if you were looking to add days of sex, you might want to consider adding them before ovulation as well.

For our situation, the RE recommends abstaining for 48 hours prior to IUI. We try to BD the morning of the trigger, the night of the IUI, and two nights after.
